Check out our GOASG website.Materials Engineer (Level 1) Role DescriptionAs a beginner materials engineer at ASG, your role is to assist in materials engineering. You will work closely with Team Leads and higher levels of the ASG team to support various stages of the materials engineering process. Key ResponsibilitiesMaterials Development and Strategy
- Assist in material evaluations, including researching and preparing rationales for technical documentation.
- Develop material selection strategies, addressing gaps in materials, design, and processes.
- Analyze material testing data to ensure compliance with safety standards.
- Participate in planning and executing material studies for devices ranging from Class I to Class III.
Regulatory Compliance and Documentation
- Understand and apply FDA and global regulatory requirements for materials safety (e.g., ISO 10993-18).
- Assist in updating technical documents to meet EU MDR standards.
- Contribute to regulatory submission responses and safety documentation.
Testing and Analysis
- Translate system and design requirements into test plans for verification activities.
- Track, maintain, and evaluate test materials and results.
- Support reporting and communication of testing outcomes to cross-functional teams.
Collaboration and Continuous Improvement
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and test laboratories.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of processes and tools related to materials engineering.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in one of the following disciplines: Biomedical Engineering, Biochemistry, Materials Science, Chemistry, or Chemical Engineering.
- 0-2 years of experience in materials engineering or a relevant role.

- Basic understanding of biocompatibility, materials testing, and regulatory requirements for medical devices.
- Familiarity with materials processing, performance evaluation, and failure analysis.

- Understanding of statistical methods and data analysis.
