The future starts here! Ready to join NXP?
Become part of the startup of a dynamic team that is leading NXP on a digital transformation journey. There is a lot of room for new ideas and innovations and you will be supported to have a continuous focus on development, coaching and creating a supportive environment for your team.
Your Team
The Analog Mixed-Signal Competence (AMSCC) department in Eindhoven is part of the worldwide Central Technology Organization (CTO) of NXP that supports all NXP Business Lines by architecting, designing, and delivering the analog and mixed-signal building blocks that are at the heart of competitive NXP products. You will be working in a diverse team with world-class subject matter specialists, where there is always room for new ideas and innovation.AMSCC employs about 100 analog/mixed-signal design specialists located in the Netherlands, India, Sweden, and US who take full responsibility for IP design and system integration. We are seeking a student intern to analyze the design of a hybrid low-dropout (LDO) regulator with an external pass transistor for powering multi-ampere loads.
The hybrid LDO architecture integrates a digital control loop to drive the external pass transistor alongside an analog control loop with an internal small pass transistor for parallel output regulation. The project involves studying various control schemes, evaluating their advantages and limitations, exploring and mitigating risks in hybrid loop architectures, and ultimately developing an optimized control scheme to meet the outlined performance objectives.
Your Responsibilities
Acquire in-depth knowledge of hybrid low-dropout (LDO) regulators, with a particular focus on designs utilizing external pass transistors.
Analyze various control schemes implemented in these LDOs, and investigate the interaction and coordination between the digital and analog control loops.
Develop models and conduct simulations of the hybrid LDO to verify design concepts across a range of input voltages and output loads
Perform circuit design and optimization of the hybrid LDO.
Summarize the strengths and limitations of different control schemes, highlighting their impact on performance and efficiency.
What’s in it for you
A great opportunity to develop your skills (technical, soft skills, communication, etc.)
Gaining experience in a multinational and diverse environment
