Radar-based Driver Assistance Systems (Example: Emergency Breaking) make use of higher frequencies of the electromagnetic spectrum (currently focus on 76-81 GHz, mm-Wave). This requires technological innovations for both development and testing of new products. NXP is one of the leaders in the field of Radar-SoCs (
System on Chip). One key aspect is the measurement of mm-Wave KPIs of our Radar-SoCs. Our Test- and Product Engineering Lab supports the development of test hardware, test SW (optimization for test efficiency, embedded test concepts, etc.) and test innovation (prototyping, PoC for new test architectures etc.). Special focus is on the transfer from development stage to mass-production environment.
Possible Tasks:
Work on mm-Wave-Measurements with high-end bench instruments (signal generators, spectrum analysers, oscilloscope, power sensors, VNA)
Automate tests for mm-Wave Radar KPIs like phase noise, noise figure or chirp linearity
Work on embedded SW for Radar ICs and Radar signal processing
Contribute to the NXP-wide lab automation framework
Contribute to rapid prototyping of mm-Wave measurement concepts
Learn about Radar systems, mm-Wave measurement, automation, or embedded SW
Requirements:
Engineering student in Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Computer Science or similar, ideally at Masters/graduate level
Good programming skills, preferably in Python, MatLab or similar
Interest to work in a lab (i.e. on-site) and learn about mm-Wave technology and automotive Radar
Attention to detail and willingness to grow your knowledge in the mentioned fields
Team player with good communication skills, fluent English (spoken and written) but also able to work independently
Highly appreciated skills:
Experience using mm-Wave measurement bench instruments as mentioned above
Experience with Radar systems (CW, FMCW etc.)
Know-how on signal processing (time-domain and frequency domain analysis, FFTs, digital filtering etc.)
Experience with embedded systems (MCUs, FPGAs, Arduino or similar)
Experience using mm-Wave 3D-simulation tools like HFSS, CST or COMSOL
What we offer:
Flexible working time between 12 and 18 hours/week
Small team but international company with many possibilities
Chance to learn and grow according to your skills and preferences
