POSITION OVERVIEW


The Parts Manager is charged with achieving sales and profit objectives for total parts sales, ensuring effective and profitable operation of the Parts Department, and maintaining high levels of customer satisfaction.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Plan and coordinate sales actions to develop business with prospects and existing customers for all of the company’s parts market.
  • Oversee the Parts Department to maintain the right parts inventory, stock levels, and overall operation to ensure profitability and support sales and service.
  • Develop and direct sales and parts department employees to ensure that they meet their assigned sales goals and Parts Department requirements.
  • Maintain strong relationships with customers to ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and reorder business.
  • Obtain accurate data on market potential, major customers, and competition.
  • Develop and implement a prospecting system for new customers.
  • Develop and implement frequent parts promotions for the market area.
  • Include inputs into plans from Account Executives and other departments.
  • Plan for business development of both new and existing customers and to achieve overall parts sales goals.
  • Set sales objectives for direct reports.
  • Set territories or customer assignments for Parts and Service Sales Representatives.
  • Discuss and/or provide plans to company management.
  • Regularly evaluate levels and sales of all parts inventory including vendor lines to determine what is stocked or discontinued based on turns and profitability.
  • Meet with vendors to gain parts information, select parts to stock, and negotiate pricing.
  • Monitor buying and orders, establish parts order guidelines, and/or approve large orders.
  • Set pricing for parts in stock, determine pricing for major customers, implement price updates, etc.
  • Supervise and monitor parts returns.
  • Manage/oversee the return of warranty parts-staging, preparations for return, etc.
  • Work with parts employees to design and maintain efficient Parts Department layout, shelving, organization, bins, etc.
  • Manage and participate in physical inventory audits (daily cycle and annual).
  • Manage direct reports to achieve their parts sales targets working with them and making joint calls to key customers if necessary.
  • Manage all Parts Department employees to ensure that the department operates effectively.
  • Handle all questions, issues (escalated), and problems with direct reports.
  • Communicate company policies, messages, and objectives to direct reports.
  • Conduct performance evaluations.
  • Work with management and Human Resources to fill open positions.
  • Responsible for the training and development of all direct reports.

  • 5+ years parts sales and management experience
  • Experience working in a corporate environment

  • Good attention to detail
