The Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented and highly skilled bilingual Technical Writer to join our team.The Technical Writer is a critical support role that collaborates with software developers and other subject matter experts to plan, develop, write, and edit technical documents. The incumbentmaintainsseveral French language on-line help systems as well as providing interface translation for our suite of products. As part of a Documentation team, you will also assist other team members in creating and maintainingEnglish language manuals, administrator guides, educational videos, online help, and other media for use by technical and non-technical business partners and external clients.Through meetings and interviews with subject matter experts (SMEs), writers develop content for various uses and applications such as PDF documents, online help systems and virtual courses.
The technical knowledge and an inherent ability to evaluate and analyze complex information is a critical element of this role, along with adapting your writing style to meet various stakeholders' needs.What You’ll DoDevelopment of Instructional Materials
- Create comprehensive documentation, including but not limited to, online help, release notes, user and administrator guides, implementation guides, training, websites, and scripts for e-learning content.
- Use a consistent and cohesive voice in language that meets the needs of the target audience.
- Prepare, review, revise and maintain technical documents.
- Maintain detailed databases of appropriate reference materials.
- Evaluate current content and develop innovative approaches for improvement.
- Support business partners by assisting with the editing and revision of their documents.
Interface translation
- Collaborate with our development teams to provide interface translation (English to French) across the Versaterm suite of products.
Application of Technical Knowledge to produce deliverables
- Obtain a deep understanding of products and services to translate complex product information into simple, polished, and engaging content.
- Leverage knowledge of software (e.g., content authoring software, video recording software) to produce deliverables in different mediums.
- Test new products as part of the documentation process.
Collaboration with SMEs
- Work with product managers, product marketing, and developers to produce and maintain world-class documentation, including User Guides, Administrator Guides, and Training Guides, in platform documentation (tooltips, welcome instructions, etc.).
- Gather information from SMEs to develop, organize, and write user guides, technical specifications, process documentation and video courses.
- Work with SMEs to improve user experience by recommending design and User Interface Improvements.
- Solicit and act on client feedback on documentation to improve usability.
Manage Projects
- Work with SME’s to determine deadlines and manage the entire documentation cycle for the product.
- Update all documents, help, and online videos throughout the continuous development cycle.
What You Bring
- A diploma or degree in French, English, Translation, Technical Communication, Journalism, or a related field.
- Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with a keen eye for detail and accuracy. As your duties will be primarily managing Versaterm’s French language requirements, excellentverbal and written communication skills in French as well as English is essential.
- Proven experience (2 years) in technical writing or content development, particularly in software development, engineering, product design, or relevant industry.
- Comfort with learning and understanding complex technical concepts.
- Familiarity with technical writing and documentation tools such as MadCap Flare, MS Word,Camtasia, or similar.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to independently research and resolve information gaps.
- Strong focus on producing high-quality, accurate, and consistent documentation.
