You can learn more about our values here. We’re looking for an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to help us go beyond provisioning to deliver frictionless experiences to our internal clients (developers!) while maintaining operational excellence and production uptime. The Infrastructure team strives to reduce the cognitive load on Engineering teams by providing an underlying infrastructure platform that is reliable, stable, observable, highly consistent, andeasy to reason about.
While the ultimate goal is reliable self-service, the steps toward it have included improving processes and cross-team interactions, documentation, templates and modules, and other affordances to increase developer velocity.Over the past year, we helped design and operationalize a next-generationcell-based architecture, and implemented it across two clouds (AWS and Azure) to create a highly-available, highly scalable platform for our flagship product dbt Cloud. We have long hosted enterprise customers in Azure single-tenant deployments and have a clear view of what success looks like as we expand to multi-tenancy.You’ll be joining a collaborative team of engineers creating a reliable and performant infrastructure platform.
As a Senior Engineer on the team you will prioritize and tackle problems as they arise, working iteratively with internal and external stakeholders to deliver a great developer experience and stability for our clients. Today we serve some of the largest data-driven organizations in the world, enabling them to make decisions based on the knowledge at the core of their business.
In this role, you can expect to:
- Design, operate, and support infrastructure systems with parity across tenancy models (single vs multi) and public clouds (AWS and Azure) - and work with engineering teams to get their services consistently deployed to those environments
- Help create a great developer experience while working with our close partners in Architecture, SRE, Release Engineering, and Security
- Leverage tools and languages such as Terraform, Kubernetes, AWS, Azure, Python, Bash, Helm, ArgoCD, Go, DataDog
- Participate in a balanced on-call rotation in an environment that values continuous improvement, and help to upgrade our tooling and reduce toil
You are a good fit if you have:
- Experience with the clouds, tools, and languages in our stack, especially: AWS\Azure\GCP, Terraform, Kubernetes, Python, and Bash
- Solid experience with declarative Infrastructure as Code - ideally with Terraform or a willingness to learn while leveraging your CloudFormation or ARM\Bicep background.
- Worked asynchronously as part of a fully-remote, distributed team - and have excellent communication and writing skills
You'll have an edge if you have:
- Prior experience in multiple clouds
- More extensive Kubernetes administration and troubleshooting background
Qualifications:
- Have 4+ years experience
- Completed enrollment in related bootcamp

At dbt Labs, we have developed strong opinions on how companies should practice analytics.Specifically, we believe that:
- Code-based transformations offer unmatched flexibility and transparency across various “multi-player” development to power everyone in the organization to collaborate on a common language
- Data analysts should adopt similar practices and tools to software developers
- Critical analytics infrastructure should be controlled by its users as open source software
- Analytic code itself — not just analytics tools — will increasingly be open source
It turns out that a lot of other people believe this too! Today, there are 30,000 companies using dbt every week, 100,000 dbt Community members, and 4,100 companies paying for dbt Cloud. Our customers include JetBlue, Hubspot, Vodafone New Zealand, and Dunelm. dbt is synonymous with the practice of analytics engineering, defining an entire industry.
