What does the role look like?
- Own backend systems and infra powering core product surfaces: content rewards, discovery feed, recommendations, real-time chat, video infra, payments
- Scale the platform and database layer (PlanetScale, MySQL, Rails) to handle billions in GMV
- Architect and implement new AI-powered creator onboarding, global payout infra, leaderboards, and more
- Optimize performance, infra, and reliability at scale
- Provide technical direction, mentorship, and high-quality code to raise the bar for the entire eng org
What we're looking for:
- Deep backend experience: Rails, SQL, distributed systems
- Experience building and scaling large consumer systems
- Ability to go full-stack when needed
- Product-minded — you care about what you're building and why
- Trusted technical leader who leads by doing
