POSITION SUMMARY:
Natera is seeking a Director of Research for the molecular biology group to lead efforts in the creation of a new product line advancing Natera’s Women’s Health portfolio. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in molecular tools for nucleic acids & other analytes, NGS, and expertise in prenatal testing & conditions—coupled with leadership experience. This Director will work within the larger Molecular Biology, Informatics, and Statistics organization to collaborate on building cutting edge non-invasive tests for women's health, transplantation, and oncology.
Collaboration, leadership, credibility, and communication are all key for this position.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Leadership and Management: Provide strategic direction and ensure alignment with the company’s goals and objectives. Provide leadership within the molecular biology team fostering an inclusive, collaborative, and innovative environment.
- Research Oversight: Oversee the design, execution, and analysis of research studies. Ensure scientific rigor and integrity in all research activities. Coordinate with other departments to align research efforts with business objectives.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams including business development, bioinformatics & data science, medical, and program management to integrate research findings into product offerings. Foster partnerships with external researchers and institutions.
- Innovation: Stay abreast of the latest developments in molecular diagnostics, genetics, and prenatal medicine. Drive the adoption of new methodologies and technologies to enhance research capabilities.
- Communication: Present research findings to internal and external stakeholders. Oversee the preparation of scientific publications, proposals, and reports.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- PhD in molecular biology or related field
- A minimum of 10 years of post-PhD biotech industry experience including significant leadership experience in diagnostics
- Expertise in NGS, cell-free DNA, methylation, protein analysis, and other advanced molecular biology technologies strongly preferred
The pay range is listed and actual compensation packages are based on a wide array of factors unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, years & depth of experience, certifications and specific office location.
