Our nonprofit client is looking for a Community Educator in Philadelphia, PA. This person will play a key role in fostering community awareness and empowering individuals to recognize, respond to, and support survivors of domestic violence.
The Community Educator will help build our community's capacity to provide compassionate, informed responses and connect survivors with necessary resources.This position involves facilitating workshops, organizing outreach initiatives, and collaborating with local partners to create a safer, more supportive environment for all.This is a full-time, 35-hour-per-week hybrid position with opportunities to work remotely. There is some local travel, and occasional evening and weekend events may be necessary.The target yearly salary range for this role is $39,000 to $43,000. 

Workshop Facilitation


  • Plan and facilitate interactive workshops, presentations, and training to help the community recognize and respond to intimate partner violence using a trauma-informed and equity-based lens
  • Plan and facilitate professional development training and continuing education opportunities that provide skill-building and best practices for addressing domestic violence and supporting survivors
  • Plan and Facilitate Empowerment Self-Defense programming

Curriculum and Program Development:


  • Assist in the development and implementation of strategic goals for Prevention and Education
  • Collaborate to develop engaging and informative curriculum and resources for domestic violence prevention education programs, ensuring content is evidence-based, culturally sensitive, and age-appropriate

Training Coordination


  • Provide follow-up for logistics and scheduling needed to deliver training and presentations

Evaluation and Reporting


  • Collect and input data for education and prevention programs

Community Outreach and Collaboration


  • Collaborate with community organizations, schools, colleges, workplaces, and other stakeholders to promote awareness and coordinate outreach efforts ie (tabling, community conversations, etc)
  • Build and maintain partnerships with local agencies, coalitions, and community groups working on domestic violence prevention and related issues. Participate in collaborative efforts and events to address systemic barriers to ending domestic violence.

Telephone Counseling:


  • Provide four hours of LifeLine coverage weekly for supportive telephone counseling for survivors of domestic violence as well as family members, friends, and third-party professionals who are concerned about someone in their lives who may be experiencing abuse.

*** The Community Educator must complete JARS (Justice Autonomy Restoration Safety) 45-hour advocacy training. This 45-hour training provides an in-depth understanding of the nuances and dynamics of domestic violence/intimate partner violence.

Qualifications:


Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, public health, education, or a related field or equivalent experience.

  • Experience in delivering educational programs, workshops, or training sessions on domestic violence prevention,
  • Knowledge of domestic violence dynamics, trauma-informed approaches, intersectionality, and DEI principles.
  • Strong communication, facilitation, and public speaking skills.
  • Ability to engage diverse audiences and create inclusive learning environments.
  • Commitment to social justice, equity, and empowerment of survivors.
  • Available some evenings and weekends as needed for workshops, events, and outreach activities.
  • Some local travel is required to conduct workshops and seminars.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds as needed.
  • Ability to provide FBI/Child Abuse/Criminal clearances.
