System Administrator
Astor & Sanders Corporation (Astor) is an award-winning IT solutions provider headquartered in McLean, VA and is seeking a
System Administrator.
This is a full-time position based in
New Carrollton, MD.
Roles and Responsibilities:
- Managing the configuration and operation of the enterprise infrastructure alerting system (Derdack) for event notifications
- Responsible for server and application maintenance including backups, failovers, upgrades, and patches
- Responsible for the overall health of the infrastructure alerting system and associated hardware
- Diagnose problems with the infrastructure alerting system and its environment and prepare an action plan to resolve the problem and communicate that plan to management
- Generate regular system status reports detailing the health and accuracy of the alerting system
- Troubleshoot all problems with the alerting system
- Monitor the health of the alerting system
- Work closely with the enterprise alerting system vendor
- Communicate with all stakeholders to ensure all are current on the status of the alerting system
- Recommend improvement of the system monitoring infrastructure
- Additional duties as assigned
Requirements
- Experience in managing and maintaining an infrastructure alerting system that generates and distributes voice messages to a large user base
- At least 3 years’ experience managing and maintaining network monitoring tools
- Linux Admin experience
- Candidate must have the ability to work as part of an operations team and be able to support multiple tasks at the same time.
- MS Server administration including software upgrades, hardware and software issue resolution and configuration. Security patching is required on a continual basis.
- Disaster Recovery system implementation and testing
Optional, but desired:
- Experience with Derdack Network Alerting
- Experience supporting a large enterprise network, including LAN and WAN technologies based on Cisco hardware and platforms.
- Expertise in networking concepts and equipment such as IPv4 and IPv6, MPLS, PLS and SIP, Routers, Switches, Load Balancers, Protocol analyzers, and probes.
