Job Summary:
Bear Robotics is a cutting-edge robotics company focused on developing innovative automation solutions for various industries. Our products, including robot devices, cloud services, and public APIs, are designed to help businesses operate more efficiently and effectively.We are seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Software Engineer - Data Engineering to take ownership of our data platform, leading the design, development, and optimization of data pipelines, analytics systems, and governance processes.
This role includes leading a small team as a tech lead, contributing technically to high-impact projects, and fostering collaboration across teams.
Key Duties/Responsibilities:
Technical Leadership:
- Architect, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and infrastructure to support complex analytics needs.
- Oversee and optimize GCP BigQuery databases, ensuring performance, scalability, and cost-efficiency.
- Drive automation and efficiency using tools like Terraform for infrastructure management.
- Implement robust data governance practices to ensure data quality, accuracy, and security.
Data Visualization and Reporting:
- Administer and enhance enterprise visualization tools (e.g., Looker), creating dashboards and guiding internal teams on self-service analytics.
- Translate business needs into actionable analytics solutions to support decision-making across the organization.
Collaboration and Cross-Functional Impact:
- Partner with application and infrastructure teams to design optimized data ingestion and processing workflows.
- Act as a key contributor in aligning data engineering solutions with business objectives and organizational strategy.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Provide technical mentorship, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth within the team.
- Lead the Data Analytics team, ensuring alignment on priorities and deliverables.
- Help conduct performance evaluations, offer feedback, and collaborate with team managers on career development plans for team members.
- Support recruitment efforts and help scale the team as needed.
- Serve as a strategic advisor on data engineering topics, influencing long-term technical direction and priorities.
Required Skills/Abilities/Qualifications:
- Proven track record of architecting and optimizing enterprise-level data platforms, using GCP and BigQuery or equivalent.
- Hands-on experience with Terraform for infrastructure as code.
- Strong proficiency with enterprise visualization tools (e.g., Looker, Tableau, Superset) and experience creating impactful dashboards.
- Advanced SQL expertise and a strong understanding of database management and optimization principles.
Preferred Skills/Abilities/Qualifications:
- Programming experience in Python, C++, or Go.
- Experience leading engineering teams or cross-functional technical projects.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for non-technical audiences.
- Experience driving data engineering best practices in a fast-paced environment.
Education/Experience:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of professional experience in data engineering, including managing data pipelines, databases, and analytics platforms.
- Demonstrated experience in a technical leadership role, either formally or informally guiding junior engineers.

The pay range is $156K-$178K. Pay is dependent on the applicant’s relevant experience
