Ape Squared is expanding and looking for a Narrative Designer to join our amazing team on a part time basis!
Above.Land is an AAA open world MMO ARPG. Set in a magical world above the clouds, humans and mythological creatures attempt to find a way to co-exist. A place where technology and fantasy blend together, new world meets the old and epic adventures await around every corner. Players must find a way to free and liberate creatures that have been corrupted by a powerful evil, and return them to their majestic forms that they once were. Players must master techniques, upgrade their gear and craft their battle plans in order to save their world.
As a Previz Artist , you will be responsible for the cutting-edge quality of our in-game cutscenes and helping our players live out the AAA experience.The Narrative Designer's role is to advocate for the storytelling elements of the game, acting as a key resource for all matters related to the narrative . The Narrative Designer works in close collaboration with the project's level-design team at each stage of development to foster a strong cooperative dynamic between the game mechanics, design and structure, and the narrative assets used to support and improve those elements.Job Description :• Partner with the team to understand and execute the overall game vision.
Write dialogues between characters and the player• Brainstorm and research ideas, and discuss your findings with cross-discipline teams• Develop engaging narrative content in line with the philosophy and vision of game design• Act as a bridge between narrative and other disciplines, as well as an advocate for storytelling in various aspects of the game when needed• Create and maintain detailed narrative design documents to guide cross-functional teams throughout production• Be open to feedback and repeatedly iterate on narrative content in the dynamic environment that game development requires• Be able to critically, constructively provide narrative feedback to team members from multiple disciplines.
Conduct progress reviews of narrative elements, gathering feedback from the team members and play testers to reach the best possible result within project limitationsRequirements :• A degree in Creative Writing, Literature, Film, or equivalent• Deep, intuitive understanding of systemic narrative practices and game production processes• A passion for video games as a storytelling medium• A highly creative, collaborative, and innovative individual with strong attention to detail• Excellent organizational, communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills• Ability to adapt to feedback and to iterate on design• At least one shipped AAA gaming project is a plusApe Squared is committed to providing an inclusive work environment that celebrates the diversity of its employees.
