About the Role
We're seeking an experienced Director of Product Design to lead our product design organization and shape the future of our products. In this role, you'll drive product design strategy, mentor team members, and collaborate with cross-functional partners to deliver exceptional mobile app (iOS and Android) and web-based user experiences. You'll be responsible for building and managing a high-performing design team while ensuring our product design system maintains consistency and innovation across all platforms.
What You'll Do
- Lead and mentor a team of product designers, providing guidance on best practices, career development, and professional growth
- Define and implement product UI and UX strategies that align with company brand, objectives and user needs
- Partner with Product Management, Engineering, and other stakeholders to drive product design vision and strategy
- Establish and maintain product UI and UX design processes, standards, and methodologies
- Own the end-to-end design system and ensure consistency across all products
- Drive user design research initiatives, and incorporate data-driven insights into design decisions
- Present design solutions to executive leadership and key stakeholders
- Recruit and retain top design talent
- Facilitate design reviews and provide constructive feedback
- Champion user-centered design throughout the organization
What You Need to Bring
- 8+ years of product design experience, with 3+ years in a design leadership role
- Proven track record of building and leading successful design teams
- Strong app UI and UX portfolio demonstrating complex problem-solving and systematic thinking
- Experience with modern design tools (Figma, Sketch, Adobe Creative Suite) and most-up-to-date AI design tools
- Deep understanding of user-centered design principles and methodologies
- Excellence in design critique, presentation, and stakeholder management
- Strong understanding of product development lifecycle and agile methodologies
- Experience building and maintaining design systems
- Bachelor's degree in Design, HCI, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience working with global, cross-functional teams
- Track record of shipping successful consumer or enterprise products
- Ability to balance user needs with business objectives
At KOHO, we are dedicated to providing pay transparency to all candidates. Compensation at KOHO is determined through various factors including but not limited to: comparable salary market data within Canada, technical skill assessment, a holistic view of previous work history, and internal pay equity with other KOHO team members.Target Base Salary Range$160,000 - $180,000CAD
