Full-timeDescription
Position Title:
Scientist, T Cell Immunology
Reports to:
Principal Scientist, T Cell Immunology
Company Background:
Century Therapeutics is developing novel allogeneic living cell products for oncology and autoimmunity that overcome the limitations of current cell therapies. Century’s genetically engineered, universal iPSC-derived immune effector cell products are designed to specifically target hematologic and solid tumor cancers. Our commitment to developing off-the-shelf cell therapies will expand patient access and provide an unparalleled opportunity to advance the course of cancer care. Century’s foundational technology is built on induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) that have unlimited self-renewing capacity.
This enables complex cellular engineering to produce controlled cell banks of modified cells that can be expanded and differentiated into desired immune effector cells, which can supply vast amounts of allogeneic, homogeneous therapeutic products. This platform differentiates Century from other approaches that utilize non-renewable donor-derived cells.
Position Summary:
Century Therapeutics is seeking a skilled and motivated T-cell biologist to contribute to the development of our next-generation cellular therapies. Working closely with a highly collaborative team, this scientist will develop and optimize our iPSC-derived T-cell platform. The ideal candidate will have expertise in T cell biology, a solid understanding of T cell development and maturation, and hands-on experience with characterizing T cell phenotype and function. In this role, the candidate will lead scientific and technical efforts in the lab, focusing initially on optimizing T cell maturation and function.
The role will be instrumental in helping shape our scientific culture and advancing Century Therapeutics’ T cell platform and programs.
Responsibilities:
- Design and execute experiments to develop and optimize Century’s iPSC-derived T-cell products in a team-based, cross-functional, and data-oriented research environment.
- Develop assays to assess the maturation and function of iPSC-derived T-cell products. Assays include multicolor flow cytometry; cell-based functional assays measuring proliferation, cytotoxicity, cytokine release (MSD, Luminex, ELISA), and serial killing; and molecular assays such as ddPCR.
- Analyze complex data sets and communicate scientific findings to key stakeholders.
- Document experimental data in electronic laboratory notebooks in a timely and accurate manner in accordance with company standards.
- Identify and address technical and scientific issues and challenges, collaborating closely with the team to find solutions.
- Stay current with scientific advancements, integrating new technologies to enhance our research process.
Qualifications:
- PhD in Immunology or related field with 0-2 years of postgraduate or industry experience; prior industry experience valued but not required.
- Strong foundation in T cell biology, including T cell development, with a record of high-quality publications in the field.
- Hands-on experience with cell, molecular, and immunological assays to characterize the phenotype and function of T cells.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, strong problem-solving skills, and ability to think critically and innovatively.
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and creative, committed to producing high-quality, reliable data.
- Eager to support and mentor junior lab members and capable of working independently to advance project goals.
