Full-timeDescription
Position Title:
Associate Scientist/Sr. Associate Scientist, Cell Differentiation
Reports to:
Principal Scientist, Cell Differentiation
Company Background:
Century Therapeutics is developing novel allogeneic living cell products for oncology that overcome the limitations of current cell therapies. Century’s genetically engineered, universal iPSC-derived immune effector cell products are designed to specifically target hematologic and solid tumor cancers. Our commitment to developing off-the-shelf cell therapies will expand patient access and provide an unparalleled opportunity to advance the course of cancer care. Century’s foundational technology is built on induced pluripotent stem cells (iPSCs) that have unlimited self-renewing capacity.
This enables complex cellular engineering to produce controlled cell banks of modified cells that can be expanded and differentiated into desired immune effector cells, which can supply vast amounts of allogeneic, homogeneous therapeutic products. This platform differentiates Century from other approaches that utilize non-renewable donor-derived cells.
Role:
The Associate Scientist/Sr. Associate Scientist will need to have working knowledge of hematopoietic differentiation. The ideal candidate will be expected to support our efforts to develop T cells from engineered pluripotent stem cells by managing internal cell lines, maintaining cell differentiations, and characterizing product cells.
Responsibilities:
- Culture and expand existing pluripotent stem cell lines and characterize edited clones.
- Prepare iPSC to initiate differentiations.
- Routinely run immune cell differentiations using established protocols.
- Execute in vitro molecular and cellular assays (Flow cytometry, qPCR, etc.) to characterize the phenotype and function of cells generated throughout the cell differentiation runs.
- Develop new flow panels and other assays to further characterize cells generated in differentiations.
- Analyze complex data sets to support data-driven decisions.
- Proactively recognize and solve technical and scientific issues to ensure high-quality data.
- Be a good lab citizen by sharing in lab responsibilities to maintain a well-functioning lab.
- Maintain an electronic lab notebook and contribute to support documentation.
- Attend and actively participate in scientific discussions at laboratory team meetings. Effectively present data and other scientific information to colleagues.
- Collaborate, and contribute as needed, with colleagues in the Company’s efforts to secure IP resulting from research discoveries.
Qualifications:
- BS or MS degree in biology, immunology, microbiology, or technical science with 5-7 years of relevant professional experience.
Requirements:
- Detail-oriented with data-driven problem-solving skills.
- High degree of scientific integrity with a commitment to ethics and scientific rigor.
- Experience with hematopoietic stem cell culture and differentiation.
- Proficient skills with multicolor flow cytometry is a plus.
- Highly organized and collaborative work style; ability to maintain detailed documentation in an electronic lab notebook.
- An eagerness to make an impact through hard work and a team-oriented mentality.
