School Security OfficerDirect Report: Assigned SupervisorEmployment Status: Full-time; 10-monthFLSA Status: SalaryThe management services offered to our family of charter schools, allows us to collectively become a change agent and national leader in urban education as evidenced by student awareness of self, high academic achievement, positive school culture and community transformation wherever we serve.Essential Functions:The school security officer will provide physical security coverage and monitor safety issues for the school.
The school security officer will greet students and visitors. The incumbent is responsible for signing guest in/out, assisting and escorting guest and visitors throughout the school.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Check facilities to ensure the school building is properly secured. Lock or unlock facilities as needed.
- Perform patrol based on assignment, which includes, but not limited to hallways, parking lots, grounds, athletics fields.
- Enforce the code of student conduct and all school policies and procedures.
- Monitor student behavior during unstructured times.
- Greet students, staff, guest and visitors.
- Sign guest and visitors in and out, escort guest and visitors throughout the school building.
- Intervene to minimize potential conflicts between students to prevent escalation of situations.
- Correct problems within authorize abilities and document all issues via email or phone contact and notify the appropriate supervisor as needed.
- Report all criminal activity and other emergency situations.
- Assist emergency responders as required.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Two years of related work experience.
- Act 235 PA armed Guard License (Required0
- Act 67 SRO Certification (Required)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Conflict resolution and de-escalation strategies.
- Observation skills, safety management, time management, objectivity, dependability.
- Technical skills such as computer, radio or other equipment issued by the school.
- Work independently and within a team environment.
- Walk up and down stairs, in and out of building grounds.
- Ability to work outdoors in assigned area in all weather conditions
- Lift objects weighing up to 35lbs.
