Evoke is seeking a Network Engineer to join our team!
Responsibilities:
- Network Design and Architecture: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and plan network architectures that meet the FCC's operational requirements. Develop comprehensive network diagrams, documentation, and implementation plans.
- Network Implementation: Configure and deploy network hardware and software components, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and VPNs. Ensure proper installation and adherence to industry best practices.
- Network Security: Implement and manage network security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection systems, and access controls. Monitor network traffic for unusual activity and respond to security incidents.
- Network Performance Optimization: Monitor network performance and traffic patterns. Identify bottlenecks, latency issues, and other performance constraints. Fine-tune network parameters for optimal efficiency.
- Network Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex network issues, collaborating with internal teams and vendors to address connectivity problems, hardware malfunctions, and other technical challenges.
- Network Upgrades and Patches: Plan and execute network equipment upgrades, including hardware replacements and firmware updates. Apply security patches and upgrades to maintain network stability and security.
- Network Monitoring and Management: Implement network monitoring tools to proactively detect and address network issues. Ensure that network devices are properly configured, monitored, and backed up.
- Network Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive network documentation, including network diagrams, configuration settings, and standard operating procedures.
- Network Capacity Planning: Evaluate network capacity requirements and plan for future growth. Recommend and implement scalable solutions to accommodate increasing network demands.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with other IT teams to integrate network systems with other infrastructure components, applications, and services.
Professional Experience and Skills:
- Proven experience as a Network Engineer, designing, implementing, and supporting network infrastructure in a professional environment.
- Strong knowledge of networking concepts, protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, OSPF), and technologies.
- Experience with network hardware and software, including routers, switches, firewalls, load balancers, and VPNs.
- Familiarity with network security principles and best practices.
- Proficiency in network monitoring and management tools.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve complex network issues.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong understanding of network protocols, technologies, and topologies, including LAN, WAN, VPN, DNS, DHCP, routing, switching, and firewall configurations.
- Proficiency in network troubleshooting, monitoring, and analysis tools to diagnose and resolve network issues.
- Experience with network security practices and knowledge of industry-standard security protocols and technologies.
- Familiarity with network infrastructure devices and components, including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
- Knowledge of cloud networking principles, such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud, is a plus.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, for effective collaboration with team members and stakeholders.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple tasks, and adapt to changing priorities.
- Proven ability to evaluate network performance, identify areas for improvement, and implement enhancements.
- Familiarity with project management principles and the ability to work on network projects from concept to completion.
Education and Years
of Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Network Engineering, or a related field is typically preferred. However, equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- A minimum of 5-7 years of experience in network engineering, design, and administration is required.
- Professional certifications such as Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA), Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP), CompTIA Network+, or equivalent certifications are highly desirable and may be required, depending on the specific role and organization.
