To support our continued growth and demand for our products, we are looking for a highly experienced Planner/Buyer to be based in our facility in Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk.This is an opportunity to work within our Supply Chain and Value Stream providing Planning, Purchasing and Material Control support to production operations, Engineering, Quality Assurance and Customer Service.

Essential Functions/Duties
Ensure purchase orders are placed with suppliers and parts expedited to maintain stock and customer service at optimum inventory levels.Monitor and maintain the MRP to ensure data is correct and up to date, ensuring exception messages are actioned.Monitor stock holding levels to ensure that inventory targets are maintained and there is no buildup of obsolete products and any excess inventory holding can be justified.Maintain and manage purchase orders, price changes, and resolve invoice queries to ensure accuracy of accounts.Establish and maintain cost-competitive, reliable, and quality assured sources of supply and co-ordinate supplier's contributions to product development and continuous improvement activities.Monitor supplier quality and delivery performance and cost reduction activities to ensure that suppliers achieve agreed improvement targets.Generate daily Production Plans and Customer Service Reports to ensure production remains on schedule.Working in conjunction with the Production team, monitor material availability and capacity loading to avoid over-commitment of resources resulting in missed delivery promises.Attend daily Production, Customer Service and Value Stream meetings, ensuring full participation and preparation as necessary.Co-ordinate the introduction of engineering changes with suppliers and manufacturing to ensure implementation on time and to cost.Carry out any other tasks that may be required to support Operations.Respond to change positively and productively and promote Company culture/ethos.Keep abreast of changes to Company Policies and Procedures, including Health and Safety Policies, ensuring the same are met and adhered to.Measures/Metrics of Success
Meeting inventory targets.Supplier on time delivery/lead-time reduction initiatives.Meeting purchase part price cost reduction targets.Schedule Adherence and Customer Planned/Wanted date adherence.Reduction of overdue customer order lines to target level.Due/overdue customer orders, monitoring, and root cause analysis.Education
- Ideally Degree or HNC Certification in an Engineering related discipline, or 5 years plus experience in an Engineering/Industrial purchasing/ Planning environment.
- Ideally hold or working toward achieving full membership of Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply.
Previous Experience/Skills
- At least 2 years’ Supply Chain Planning and Purchasing experience.
- At least 5 years’ experience in Planning and materials control functions, demonstrating strong customer service skills.
- Previous experience of managing an ERP/MRP system, preferably IFS.
- Experience in Planning and Purchasing – ideally experience in purchasing cast and fabricated metal parts for use in an industrial assembly environment.
- Experience in problem solving techniques.
- Computer Literate in MRP/MPS ideally utilizing IFS or similar.
- Computer Literate (Microsoft Office) must have Excel capability at intermediate level.
- Ability to make appropriate and effective use of oral and written English to communicate, cooperate and negotiate with diverse individuals and groups.
- Ability to utilise analytical and mathematical skills appropriate to responsibilities.
- Ability to utilise appropriate judgment and discretion as they relate to responsibilities.
