SUMMARY:
The Resource Optimization Specialist reviews processes in the clinical laboratories and identifies efficiencies and opportunities to organize and streamline. This position is responsible for evaluating and recommending best unitization of available resources and proposing additional resource allocation needed for proficient clinical lab operations.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Creates a system for identifying, tracking and prioritizing processes that require attention
- Partners with teams in Clinical Operations to develop processes and standard operating procedures on resource management strategy
- Understands the current gaps in our processes and systems across the lab divisions
- Coordinates with product team, R&D, sales and laboratories on resource evaluation for new product development, new product launching, old pipeline discontinuation, process improvements and test volume projections/fluctuations
- Provides feedback to the labs and training specialist on cross training to optimize staffing distribution for all workflows
- Reviews and assists periodic update of the Critical Supply Procedures of each lab division, ensures constant supplies for clinical testing
- Evaluates equipment capacity; suggests purchase of new equipment, repurpose of existing equipment, implementation of automated systems as needed for increased capacity and/or quality
- Performs clinical lab testing on samples as assigned and as needed
- Assists with regulatory inspections and supports Quality Management System
- Adheres to Code of Conduct as outlined in the Baylor Genetics Compliance Program
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Education:
- BS in Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology Engineering or other related field required
- Experience:
- 2+ years of clinical laboratory experience
- In depth understanding of clinical operation processes
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Demonstrated knowledge of CAP/CLIA and good laboratory practice
- Ability to summarize data, create meaningful presentations
Certification/Licenses/Registration:
- Preferred: MB (ASCP) or MT(ASCP) or CG(ASCP)
