ABOUT THE POSITION:
The Quality Assurance Specialist plays a critical role in ensuring product quality and safety within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This position involves developing and executing sensory testing programs for co-manufactured products, conducting quality inspections, and communicating results related to product quality and regulatory compliance. The Specialist collaborates with manufacturing teams to identify and implement process improvements, enhance product consistency, and drive quality initiatives aligned with food safety and quality objectives. Responsibilities include leading data analysis, reporting quality metrics, and maintaining QA system integrity while mentoring team members and leading training on QA tools and systems.
The role requires strong analytical skills, the ability to drive change, and effective communication to support quality improvements and resolve quality concerns with internal teams and external suppliers. This position is a key resource for enhancing product quality and ensuring compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
SCHEDULE:
Approximate schedule will be 5 days a week 7:45am – 4:45pm, times may vary depending on task demands.
WAGE:
Salary range for this position is $77,000.00 - $90,000.00 annually, subject to all required taxes and withholdings.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
May do any or all the following:
- Work safely in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
- Establish a program for testing physical and sensory attributes of co-manufactured products and setting sensory audits for non-conforming shipments.
- Ensure the completion of the quality Inspection Process of co-manufactured products upon receipt at the Kent facility. Communicate to internal and external resources results of AQL, sensory, and regulatory results.
- Assist in documenting and clarifying process specifications for Oberto products, specifically sensory and food safety-related attributes. Strengthen quality plans and improve product consistency.
- Analyze data collected by the quality engineering and quality team, organize and report results that improve the manufacturing processes affecting product quality.
- Work with the Manufacturing team to identify and support quality improvement opportunities throughout the manufacturing facility. Ensure that all projects meet the Food Safety and Quality team’s objectives.
- Assist in providing fact-driven root cause analysis of process deviation.
- Work with internal and external materials, equipment, and services suppliers to execute projects, resolve problems and improve processes.
- The ability to Drive and communicate change. Develop and lead training for QA systems, including QAD, Redzone, QMS, and existing legacy paperwork. Influence and guide other team members to complete auditing of QA activities and suggest improvements.
- Maintain data integrity and record storage for QA systems (QAD, Redzone, QMS, and existing paperwork).
- Lead meetings and communications for QA system information, address concerns, and make updates.
- High proficiency with reporting and publishing weekly, monthly, and quarterly metrics. Proficient in reporting to all levels of the organization.
- Lead and mentor others with QA data analysis, trending, and reporting.
- Assists the Director of FSQA with tasks related to the job.
- Work to grow cross-functional knowledge of quality.
- Assist in maintaining Redzone compliance processes.
- Other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School or Equivalent
- Minimum of 3 years of Quality Assurance experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Background in food science or related science area preferred refer a degree in Engineering, Food Science, or Life Sciences
- Computer literacy
- Experience in reporting tools like Tableau or power BI preferred.
- Understanding of HACCP
- Expert Microsoft Excel
- An understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC)
- Ability to work independently
- Strong math skills
- Cooperative - working well with diverse groups
- Diplomacy Skills
- Analytical; proven problem-solving ability
- Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy
- Able to work with urgency and the ability to prioritize work.
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- English competency
PHYSTICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Work environment is that of an office environment. This employee regularly works with office equipment, materials, chemicals, and wet floors with wet equipment when on the production floor. This employee works around high voltage, hot water, and steam
- Ability to frequently sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl
- Physical work includes climbing stairs, etc.
- Willing to work in a various-temperature environment
- Ability to handle weighting items under 25lbs or may need to move objects safely and with proper body mechanics.
- Ability to frequently talk, hear, and smell
- Ability to frequently reach with hands and arms; use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls
- Vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision and the ability to adjust focus.
