cFocus Software is seeking a highly experienced
Computer Systems Analyst to support mission-critical operations. With over 8 years of experience, the ideal candidate will analyze and improve complex computer systems, including science, engineering, and business data processing applications. This role requires an in-depth understanding of user requirements, system capabilities, and the ability to automate or optimize existing processes. The successful candidate will help ensure that DHS’s computer systems support secure and efficient operations in a high-stakes environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- System Analysis and Improvement:
- Analyze science, engineering, business, and other data processing problems to design and implement solutions that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of existing computer systems.
- Review system capabilities, workflows, and scheduling limitations to identify areas for improvement and provide recommendations for system optimizations.
- User Requirements Analysis:
- Work closely with DHS users and stakeholders to gather, document, and analyze system requirements and workflows.
- Understand user needs and translate them into actionable system specifications for new or improved applications and processes.
- System Design and Automation:
- Design and automate systems to streamline and optimize workflows, ensuring that DHS operations are supported by efficient, secure, and scalable computer systems.
- Create, modify, and implement system designs and configurations to meet evolving requirements and to address specific organizational challenges.
- Software Evaluation and Recommendations:
- Analyze commercially available software to evaluate its potential application within DHS operations. Make recommendations on purchasing, customization, or integration of off-the-shelf software solutions that meet business needs.
- Assess software performance and compatibility with existing systems, ensuring alignment with security, functionality, and compliance requirements.
- Collaboration with IT Teams:
- Work closely with other IT professionals, including network engineers, developers, and system administrators, to implement system improvements and ensure smooth integration of new technologies.
- Collaborate with software developers to design and test new system features, functions, or modules based on user requirements.
- Troubleshooting and Support:
- Provide ongoing support for existing systems, helping to troubleshoot and resolve issues that may impact system performance or user satisfaction.
- Monitor system performance and user feedback to identify potential problems and proactively implement fixes or enhancements.
- Documentation and Reporting:
- Document all system analysis, changes, and new implementations in detailed reports to maintain accurate records for compliance, audit, and operational purposes.
- Generate and present reports on system improvements, performance, and troubleshooting activities to leadership and stakeholders.
- Security and Compliance:
- Ensure that all system designs and improvements adhere to DHS security protocols, including data protection and access control policies.
- Implement measures to safeguard sensitive information and ensure compliance with government regulations, including privacy and security standards.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
- Experience:
- 8+ years of experience as a Computer Systems Analyst or in a similar role, analyzing, designing, and improving complex computer systems.
- Proven ability to analyze and solve business, engineering, and scientific data processing problems through system design and optimization.
- Experience in working with users to gather requirements and translating those into system specifications and solutions.
- Experience with commercially available software solutions and understanding how they can be integrated into existing systems.
- Skills and Competencies:
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex systems and identify areas for improvement.
- In-depth knowledge of system analysis, process automation, and workflow optimization techniques.
- Familiarity with various programming languages, software development tools, and system integration technologies.
- Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, ensuring alignment on system requirements and improvements.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Certifications (Preferred):
- Certified Information Systems Analyst (CISA) or similar certifications.
- ITIL Foundation certification or experience with IT service management processes.
- Security certifications, such as CompTIA Security+ or Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), are a plus.
Security Clearance:
Due to the sensitive nature of this role, candidates must possess or be able to obtain the required security clearance.
