Procon Consulting, a fast-growing professional services firm with expertise in construction management (CM), construction-related technology, space planning, and facilities management, seeks a Senior Interior Designer to support interior design, space planning, furniture management, move management, construction administration support, and related project management and support services on various government and commercial projects in the Huntsville, AL area. The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Serve as a consultant in establishing space and furniture design standards, including contributing to the Bureau's Program of Requirements (POR).
- Conduct on-site field surveys to document workflows, space, equipment, and adjacencies, providing recommendations based on findings.
- Prepare stacking and blocking plans, schematic designs, and design intent drawings in AutoCAD, ensuring compliance with established standards.
- Manage projects through all phases, from programming to post-occupancy, maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders.
- Assist in the selection, layout, and procurement planning for furniture.
- Review and provide recommendations on furniture proposals, drawings, and specifications.
- Participate in punch list walk-throughs to ensure readiness for furniture installation and inspect installed furniture for defects or damages.
- Support workspace standard development, focusing on health, morale, and productivity improvements for building occupants.
- Coordinate with project teams, including AESU colleagues, FBI Project.
- Managers, and contractors, to achieve project goals.
- Develop and review reports, studies, and presentations using Microsoft Office tools.
- Exhibit professionalism and customer service, collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams.
- Adapt to shifting priorities and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design from an accredited institution.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in commercial or government office building design and construction (20+ years preferred).
- Proven expertise in workspace design, focusing on occupant health and welfare.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Familiarity with federal standards, FBI requirements, and POR.
- Must possess a Secret clearance and have the ability to obtain a Top-Secret clearance.
