cFocus Software is seeking an experienced
Cloud Engineer to support the design, implementation, and maintenance of cloud infrastructure and services for critical national security operations. The Cloud Engineer will be responsible for providing a technical approach to concerns related to commercialization, standardization, and governance of cloud computing applications. With over 8 years of experience, the ideal candidate will have a proven track record of solving complex technology problems, integrating electronic processes, and applying systematic approaches to workflow and system optimization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Cloud Infrastructure Design and Implementation:
- Design, develop, and deploy secure cloud infrastructure solutions for DHS, ensuring scalability, performance, and security.
- Provide a technical approach to concerns related to the commercialization and standardization of cloud computing applications, ensuring alignment with DHS operational needs.
- Lead the integration of cloud technologies and electronic processes to resolve complex systems or technology challenges.
- Assist in the migration of applications and services to the cloud, ensuring a smooth and secure transition with minimal disruption to ongoing operations.
- Governance and Cloud Strategy:
- Establish and enforce cloud governance policies, ensuring compliance with federal security standards (e.g., NIST, FISMA, FedRAMP).
- Develop and implement best practices for cloud security, data management, and operational governance across DHS cloud environments.
- Advise on cloud commercialization strategies, ensuring cost-effective and efficient use of resources while maintaining security and compliance.
- Problem Solving and System Integration:
- Apply analytical and systematic approaches to resolve complex workflow, organizational, and planning issues related to cloud systems.
- Lead the integration of cloud applications and services with existing systems, ensuring seamless operation and optimized performance.
- Perform complex project tasks to resolve specialized technology problems, ensuring that cloud solutions meet mission requirements.
- System Engineering and Secure Cloud Design:
- Provide leadership and guidance in applying system engineering principles for the secure design and development of cloud-based systems.
- Direct and assist other engineering teams in addressing system design issues related to cloud security, performance, and functionality.
- Develop and implement secure cloud architectures that ensure the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of DHS’s critical information systems.
- Collaboration and Cross-Functional Support:
- Work closely with DHS IT, cybersecurity, and operations teams to integrate cloud infrastructure with existing on-premises systems and technologies.
- Collaborate with project teams to define cloud system requirements, evaluate solutions, and drive successful cloud adoption.
- Provide technical expertise and mentorship to junior engineers and other team members, sharing best practices for cloud engineering and security.
- Continuous Improvement and Innovation:
- Stay abreast of emerging cloud technologies and trends, recommending new tools and services that could enhance cloud infrastructure for DHS.
- Continuously assess cloud environments for performance improvements, cost savings, and security enhancements.
- Lead efforts to optimize and automate cloud-based workflows, ensuring efficiency and minimizing manual interventions.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cloud Computing, or a related field.
- Experience:
- 8+ years of experience in cloud engineering, systems integration, and architecture, with a focus on secure cloud infrastructure.
- Proven experience in the commercialization, standardization, and governance of cloud computing applications.
- Experience in designing and implementing cloud solutions on platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Expertise in systems engineering principles and methodologies, including secure systems design and integration.
- Skills and Competencies:
- In-depth knowledge of cloud architecture, cloud security, and cloud management tools and technologies.
- Strong background in cloud integration, including migrating and integrating systems, applications, and data to the cloud.
- Solid understanding of workflow optimization, system design, and organizational planning in cloud environments.
- Experience applying analytical techniques and systematic approaches to problem-solving in complex technology environments.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Certifications (Preferred):
- AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Professional, Google Cloud Professional Cloud Architect, or Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert.
- Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) or Certified Cloud Security Professional (CCSP).
- ITIL Foundation or other relevant IT service management certifications.
Security Clearance:
Due to the sensitive nature of this role, candidates must possess or be able to obtain the required security clearance.
