Procon Consulting, a fast-growing professional services firm in McLean, VA with expertise in construction management (CM), construction-related technology, space planning, and facilities management, seeks an Interior Designer to support interior design, space planning, furniture management, move management, construction administration support, and related project management and support services on various government and commercial projects in the Huntsville, AL area. The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and experience.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist in developing space and furniture design standards and contribute to the Bureau’s Program of Requirements (POR).
- Conduct on-site field surveys to document workflows, adjacencies, and space needs, offering recommendations based on findings.
- Prepare space plans, stacking plans, and schematic designs in AutoCAD, ensuring compliance with FBI standards and guidelines.
- Review and provide feedback on design and construction documents, ensuring they meet Bureau requirements.
- Manage projects from inception to post-occupancy, maintaining relationships with stakeholders and service providers.
- Assist in furniture selection, layout design, and procurement planning.
- Review and provide recommendations on furniture proposals, documents, and specifications.
- Conduct punch list inspections for newly constructed or renovated spaces to ensure readiness for furniture installation.
- Inspect furniture for damages or defects and create punch lists for replacement or repair.
- Support the development of workspace standards, prioritizing occupant health, morale, and productivity.
- Collaborate with AESU colleagues, FBI Project Managers, and contractors to ensure project success.
- Develop reports, presentations, and studies using Microsoft Office tools.
- Exhibit professionalism and teamwork in a multidisciplinary environment.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design from an accredited institution.
- 5–10 years of experience in commercial or government office building design and construction.
- Relevant experience in workspace planning and occupant-focused design.
- Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project).
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
- Familiarity with federal standards, FBI design requirements, and POR.
- Interior design license preferred.
- Must possess a Secret clearance and have the ability to obtain a Top-Secret clearance.
