Shop Foreman

Oversee service and repair procedures as well as shop personnel.  Service and repair various pumps, motors, and power units including testing, trouble-shooting, repair and assembly. Maintain Safety, Quality and Productivity in the shop with all personnel. 

Responsibilities


  • Manage and coordinate shop activities-  
  • Assign duties to Technicians based on schedule given to you by Regional Operations Manager. 
  • Keep work flowing through shop based on required date and urgency on schedule. Directing technicians on what units take priority and keeping product moving across the test stand.
  • Keep Tech’s on task and productive (assign work when needed on days that are slow, help keep shop running at 60% productivity rate.
  • Train new Technicians, assist Technicians with repairs and development.
  • Be the go to guy on the shop floor, keep work flowing, drive the schedule and answer all day to day questions the technicians might have.
  • Garner proper procedures and information for technicians- show them where to look.
  • Work with technicians as needed, teaching unique techniques regarding disassembly and assembly. “Tricks of the trade”
  • Technical Resource for technicians on products worked on in the shop. (IE- Danfoss, Poclain, Eaton, Rexroth, Linde, Kawasaki.)
  • Clean, organize, and maintain the Shop and Shop equipment.

Work with Regional Operations Manager


  • Communicate shop supplies that need to get ordered and identify any tooling or equipment that needs to be added or replaced.
  • Communicate production issues in the shop, or problems or areas of need with the technicians to the Regional Operations Manager.

Work with the Sales Team


  • Fielding CSR and AM questions on parts write ups, (what’s bad, why is it bad, does it need to be replaced.)
  • Inspect parts and various components. Determine if parts are re-workable.  
  • Ability to write up an inspection report for a repair if needed. 
  • Help make decisions about parts and if they are ok to re-use.
  • Contact CSR’s and AM’s for pressure settings or documents needed for units. 

Testing and Trouble Shooting and Repairing Units


  • Investigate hydraulic or pneumatic systems that are not working properly using schematics and diagnostic equipment.

  • Adjust components and equipment.
  • Diagnose problems and give recommendations for repairs.
  • Work on repairs as time allow, fill in where needed during the day.
  • Assemble units according to manufacturer specifications.

Shipping and Receiving Responsibilities


  • Work with Shipping and receiving person to get parts pulled that are need for the day.
  • Assist with getting product shipped out to the customer.
  • Help fill in on any shipping and receiving duties when the shipping person is out. 

General Education and Experience


  • Education - 2-year fluid power associates degree and certification preferred; high school diploma/G.E.D. minimum.  Basic mechanical understanding required.
  • Experience - 3 to 5 years in fluid power service and repair experience required. 5 to 7 years experience preferred.
  • Physical Requirements - Must be able to lift up to 75lbs.  Position stands 70 to 100% of the workday
