Procon Consulting, a fast-growing professional services firm in McLean, VA with expertise in providing program and project management for design and construction, project controls, commissioning, construction-related technology, and facilities management, seeks Senior Mechanical Engineers in Huntsville, AL.
The Senior Mechanical Engineer will support the Architectural Engineering Services Unit (AESU) of the FBI, providing expertise in the design, analysis, and management of mechanical systems for renovation and construction projects. The engineer will ensure compliance with FBI standards and federal regulations while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver efficient, functional, and secure solutions.
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Perform and interpret cooling load calculations and read ductwork layouts.
- Design and analyze various mechanical systems, including HVAC, with considerations for system advantages and disadvantages.
- Review mechanical systems for specialized rooms such as data closets and communication rooms to ensure compliance with standards.
- Evaluate watts-per-square-foot ratios and ensure adherence to Bureau standards and local codes.
- Develop and review sequences of operations for HVAC systems and assess 24/7 system compliance with requirements.
- Participate in commissioning processes and life-cycle analysis of mechanical systems.
- Assist in cost estimation, scope of work development, and review of testing, adjusting, and balancing (TAB) reports.
- Perform construction administration tasks, including reviewing RFIs, field reports, and submittals.
- Act as a consultant in establishing design standards and provide mechanical engineering expertise.
- Collaborate with project teams, participate in quality control/assurance, and coordinate with various stakeholders.
- Develop reports, presentations, and studies while maintaining professionalism and teamwork.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited institution
- Minimum 10 years of experience in mechanical system design and construction for commercial or government facilities (20+ years preferred)
- Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and multitasking capabilities
- Familiarity with federal standards and FBI design requirements.
- Must possess a Secret clearance
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- Extensive experience with HVAC systems and data center infrastructure preferred
$115,000 - $150,000 a yearSalary commensurate with experience.
