UE is seeking a motivated student pursuing an associate or bachelor’s degree, preferably in insurance, business, or information systems, who is eager to learn about the daily operations of a niche insurance company. This internship offers a unique opportunity to work with our Underwriting, Actuary, Resolutions, and IT departments during the summer of 2025, gaining insights into the insurance industry, the education segment, and our organization’s day-to-day operations.
Overview:
Our Underwriting Operations Internship provides a hands-on experience where you will collaborate with colleagues to analyze workflows, identify areas for improvement, and support ad hoc projects that advance our department’s goals. This role offers valuable exposure to internal processes and core functions, while developing skills in data analysis, project collaboration, and operational support.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with department representatives and other interns on projects aimed at improving key processes.
- Analyze current processes, identify trends and opportunities for improvement, and work with the Underwriting team to implement solutions.
- Create reports for underwriting and other departments using UE’s enterprise data warehouse. Assist in reviewing and editing related process documentation to ensure accuracy and clarity.
- Support various ad hoc process improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
- Provide operational support to the underwriting team, including report generation, data entry, and addressing inquiries from colleagues.
Requirements:
- Currently pursuing a degree in Business, Information Systems, Insurance, or a related field
- Ability to analyze processes, identify inefficiencies, and suggest improvements
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for effective collaboration with team members
- High level of accuracy and thoroughness in data entry, documentation review, and report generation
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with Power BI for data analysis and visualization is a plus. Familiarity with insurance or data management software is also beneficial
