HUMAN was founded in 2012 in a Brooklyn sci-fi bookstore by Tamer Hassan, Michael Tiffany, Dan Kaminsky, and Ash Kalb. The HUMAN R&D team is pivotal to our mission. They are the ones uncovering and fighting bot operations like PARETO, ICEBUCKET, 3ve, and Methbot. HUMAN supports our R&D humans by strongly valuing deep work and flexibility. Additionally, this team is encouraged to participate in R&D Research Friday - a designated half day each week dedicated to trying new ideas and personal career development. The modern advertising ecosystem is built around open standards like OpenRTB, Ads.txt, and Sellers.json, and understanding the capabilities and limitations of these standards is key to effectively fighting ad fraud.
HUMAN’s Ad Standards Lab brings together engineering skills, deep standards expertise, and an offensive security mindset to not just detect fraud, but find and close gaps fraudsters can exploit.
We are looking for an experienced Python developer to own our systems that ingest Ads.txt and Sellers.json data, and our app store crawlers. You will be responsible for delivering accurate and timely standards data to our internal research teams and to customers, while becoming a subject matter expert on how to interpret and leverage this data to fight ad fraud.
What You'll Do
- Design, build, and maintain crawlers and other data ingestion systems that collect Ad Tech standards-related data
- Partner with other engineering and operations teams to integrate standards data into other systems
- Work with Research and Threat Intelligence teams to develop ways to utilize standards data in investigations, including developing bespoke analysis tooling
- Work with Product to expose standards data to customers, helping them better understand their inventory and improve its standards compliance
- Consult with customers to help them understand the standards and improve their compliance
- Participate in industry standards working groups, including proposing additional standards or changes to existing standards
Who You Are
- You are an experienced Python developer, familiar with building new systems from scratch, as well as maintaining existing ones; experience with Scrapy is a plus
- You know your way around SQL databases; experience with Snowflake is a plus
- You work well with other teams, building understanding across functions; experience working directly with customers or industry groups is a plus
- You have strong attention to detail, and can step back to see the big picture
- Experience in the Ad Tech industry, particularly with supply chain standards like Ads.txt, Sellers.json, and SupplyChain Object, is a plus
