Procon Consulting, a fast-growing professional services firm in McLean, VA with expertise in providing program and project management for design and construction, project controls, commissioning, construction-related technology, and facilities management, seeks a Senior Civil Engineer to join our expanding team. The Senior Civil Engineer will provide civil engineering expertise to the Federal Bureau of Investigation's Architectural Engineering Services Unit (AESU). This role involves designing, reviewing, and managing civil engineering projects related to site development, drainage, pavement, and utility systems. The engineer will ensure compliance with FBI standards and federal regulations, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams. This role will be onsite in Huntsville, AL.
Responsibilities
- Develop Statements of Work (SOWs), cost estimates, and designs for civil engineering tasks, including roadway and pavement design, drainage systems, erosion control, and utility distribution.
- Utilize AutoCAD and similar tools for design tasks and operate large-format printers and scanners.
- Review and provide comments on plans, design documents, and construction documents for compliance with Bureau standards, US Army regulations, and local codes.
- Conduct field surveys and provide recommendations based on observations.
- Perform construction administration duties, including answering RFIs, reviewing submittals, and conducting site inspections.
- Support project schedule development and evaluation.
- Implement and understand site security requirements as defined by the Bureau's Physical Security Unit.
- Maintain expertise in current International Building Code (IBC), Uniform Federal Accessibility Standards (UFAS), and state and federal construction codes.
- Collaborate with project teams, including AESU colleagues, FBI Project Managers, contractors, and other stakeholders.
- Develop reports and studies, providing expert engineering input to resolve project issues.
- Exhibit professionalism, customer service, and teamwork in a multidisciplinary environment.
Qualifications
- Must be eligible to obtain a Secret or Top Secret Government Security Clearance
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution
- Minimum 10 years of experience in civil engineering for commercial or government facilities (20+ years preferred)
- Extensive experience with drainage systems, utility design, and pavement projects is desirable
- Proficient in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Familiarity with FBI requirements, IBC, UFAS, and state and local codes
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
