cFocus Software is seeking an experienced
Data Warehousing Specialist with over 8 years of experience to design, model, implement, and manage data warehousing activities. This individual will be responsible for programming and configuring data warehouses, ensuring data integration, and providing support to warehouse users. The ideal candidate will have in-depth knowledge of database management, data modeling, and ETL processes, playing a critical role in ensuring efficient data access and reporting capabilities within the DHS systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Data Warehouse Design and Implementation:
- Design and model data warehousing systems, ensuring efficient data storage, retrieval, and management in compliance with DHS data standards.
- Develop and implement strategies for integrating and consolidating data from various sources into the data warehouse.
- Implement and configure database systems, creating structured, efficient, and scalable data models to support business intelligence and decision-making processes.
- ETL Process Development:
- Program and configure Extract, Transform, Load (ETL) processes to ensure seamless integration of data from multiple systems into the data warehouse.
- Optimize ETL pipelines for performance, scalability, and accuracy, ensuring data quality and consistency across multiple environments.
- Database Management and Optimization:
- Manage and maintain the performance, integrity, and security of the data warehouse.
- Monitor database performance and optimize storage, indexing, and query operations to enhance data access and retrieval times.
- Implement data backup and disaster recovery processes to ensure data availability and protection.
- Data Quality and Support:
- Ensure the accuracy, consistency, and completeness of data within the warehouse, conducting regular audits and implementing data cleansing measures as necessary.
- Provide ongoing support to warehouse users, addressing issues related to data queries, access permissions, and reporting.
- Work closely with data analysts and business intelligence teams to ensure the data warehouse meets operational needs and business requirements.
- Reporting and Data Access:
- Collaborate with business units to define and implement reporting and data access strategies.
- Develop user-friendly methods for data extraction and reporting, ensuring that users can easily access required information for analysis and decision-making.
- Collaboration and Documentation:
- Work with cross-functional teams, including data analysts, developers, and business leaders, to understand data requirements and design appropriate data solutions.
- Document all data warehousing processes, configurations, and architectural designs, ensuring compliance with DHS policies and standards.
- Provide training and documentation to data warehouse users, ensuring they are equipped with the knowledge to efficiently query and utilize data.
- Security and Compliance:
- Ensure that data warehousing solutions comply with DHS cybersecurity policies, data privacy regulations, and other relevant standards.
- Implement security measures to protect sensitive data stored in the warehouse, including access control and encryption.
Qualifications:
- Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field. Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of formal education.
- Experience:
- 8+ years of experience in data warehousing, database administration, or a related field, with extensive experience designing and managing data warehouse solutions.
- Experience with data modeling, ETL development, and database management systems (DBMS).
- Proven track record of implementing and maintaining scalable data warehouses in large, complex environments.
- Skills and Competencies:
- Strong expertise in data warehousing technologies, including data modeling, ETL, and database design.
- Proficiency in database management systems (e.g., SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, or similar platforms).
- Experience with business intelligence tools and reporting software (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, SQL-based reporting).
- Knowledge of cloud data warehouse platforms (e.g., AWS Redshift, Google BigQuery, Snowflake) is a plus.
- Ability to optimize data queries and implement solutions that support both batch and real-time data processing.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Certifications (Preferred):
- Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP).
- Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Engineer Associate or other relevant cloud certifications.
- Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) or other related certifications in database management.
