Summary
The HR Generalist will oversee the daily functions of the HR department, including but not limited to: hiring and interviewing staff; managing pay, benefits, leave, and enforcing company policies and practices. The HR Generalist will also work with leadership in retention efforts, cultural activities, and managing benefits. Duties/Responsibilities:
- Administer and execute human resource programs including employee onboarding, compensation planning, benefits, disciplinary process, disputes and investigations, performance and talent management, recognition, and morale, occupational health and safety, and training and development.
- Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental managers to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
- Coordinates the US visa application process for non-US staff. In this capacity, the HR Generalist is assisted by outside counsel but some experience and familiarity with the process is preferred.
- Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition programs.
- Communicates payroll changes (including changes to pay, benefits, and deductions) to payroll administrator
- Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
- Participates in manager coaching, employee disciplinary meetings, terminations, and investigations.
- Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.
- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:
- 4+ years of experience in an HR Generalist role, preferably in a similar-sized organization.
- Experience with an HRIS (BambooHR a plus)
- SHRM-CP or PHR required
Work Environment:This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, cameras, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. This position will also have infrequent work and exposure to robots, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment’s office will be relatively low to moderate, while the noise level in the lab may at times be loud.Physical Demands:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.The employee is regularly required to sit, talk, and hear; and frequently required to use hands to finger, handle or feel, and must be able to reach with hands and arms.
