System Integration Engineer Intern

Summary 
As a member of the technical staff, the Integration Engineer Intern is responsible for efficiently integrating robotic/controls hardware with Plus One’s software.  This includes specification reviews, development, design reviews, simple mechanical designs, documentation, pre-production builds and testing demonstration systems and pilot systems.Essential Functions

  • Assist in conceptualizing, modeling, simulating, designing, analyzing, fabricating, and testing demo/pilot robotic systems.
  • Create, innovate, and invent new/better automation products/solutions for material handling.
  • Assist in producing design drawings, assembly drawings, assembly/work instructions, and bill of materials.
  • Operate common power tools for modification and construction purposes.
  • Provide technical, budgetary, and schedule information to mentor.

  • Write manufacture and test procedures and installation instructions.  Participate in project teams and all activities related to the development of new products.
  • Program robots or assist in the testing of robotic systems while following industry safety standards.
  • Commission, configure, troubleshoot Pick One’s software.
  • Competencies

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and SharePoint.
  • Comfortable familiarity with the internet and commonly used computer applications and functions.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and oral.
  • Sense of urgency, a bias towards action.
  • Ability to analyze and problem solve.
  • Maintains empathy towards clients.
  • Required Education and ExperienceA student who is a junior or higher, at least a 3.5 GPA, currently studying mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or any related field.Experience with Ubuntu and ROS.Preferred Education and ExperienceExperience with ROS, Industrial Robot, PLCs, or working in a warehouse/fulfillment center. Additional Eligibility QualificationsMust have reliable transportation.Supervisory ResponsibilityThis position has no supervisory responsibilities.Work EnvironmentThis job operates in a warehouse environment.

     While performing the duties of this job, the intern will be exposed to moving mechanical parts, vibration, and occasional fumes or airborne particles. The noise level in the work environment and job sites are often loud enough to require hearing protection.  This job also occasionally operates in a professional office environment, routinely using standard office equipment such as computers, phones, cameras, photocopiers, and filing cabinets.Physical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an intern to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.While performing the duties of this job, the intern is frequently required to stand, walk, talk, hear, sit, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, use hands to finger, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, and lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
