Sigma Defense is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer willing to tackle complex technical issues in a collaborative environment. Supporting the organization to accomplish mission requirements and future proofing components, software, and policies. The candidate will be responsible for designing, integrating, optimizing, and maintaining a unique infrastructure across multiple data centers. They frequently collaborate with various section engineers to assist in building and configuring customer environments across multiple data centers.
The individual for whom we are looking will have a strong technical acumen with a professional understanding of Virtual Cloud Foundation VCF, VMware ESX, Microsoft SQL database and related technologies.

Requirements
- 10 - 15 years of relevant experience.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience with architecting and implementing storage, virtualization, and hyper converged systems along with data protection and recovery strategies.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in an enterprise environment involving VMware maintenance, troubleshooting, and performance analysis.
- Expert knowledge on Data Resiliency: Redundancy Factor and High availability.
- Should have strong knowledge on VMware vSphere Networking, VLAN, Port Groups, Virtual Switches and their properties.
- Proven understanding of data center management and orchestration, as well as enterprise application environments.
- Monitor and suggest improvements to network performance, capacity, scalability, and security.
- Professional Service project experience with migration, upgrades, implementation, and patch management in the desired technology areas.
- Solid understanding of migration strategies for transferring workloads between data centers.
- Proven knowledge and experience with basic scripting on PowerShell.
- Experience creating design documents and diagrams to support the system design.
- Skilled in documenting all build and configuration procedures.
- Ability to run systemwide security, compliance, and vulnerability scans and mitigate findings.
- Demonstrate a strong work ethic, adhere to deadlines, and the ability to work both independently and as a team.
- Experience with SQL server replication topologies.
- Should have the ability to work in a dynamic fast paced environment that requires team interaction and coordination across multiple information technology teams.
- Should have excellent communication skills to include technical writing and the ability to work in a collaborative team.
- Ability and willingness to continue to expand knowledge and experience; be detail oriented; and prioritize and complete assigned tasks within required deadlines.
- Exceptional problem solving and decision-making capabilities to include troubleshooting technical issues, resolving project issues and challenges, understanding user requirements, and developing creative solutions for process improvement.
- Experience with Cisco virtual and physical network, and security concepts and practices.
Personnel Clearance Level:
- Candidate must possess or have the ability to obtain an active Secret security clearance.
- A clearance will be sponsored for the right candidate.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Information Technology.
Mandatory Certifications:
- DOD 8570 IAT Level II or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
- VMware VCP or VCAP certification in the Data Center Virtualization track is desired.
Essential Job Duties (not all-inclusive):
- Will be responsible for the installation, configuration, administration, and management of Microsoft SQL Server 2019 and Microsoft SQL Reporting Services 2019 for a SolarWinds SQL platform.
- Will facilitate, implement, monitor, and test database backups and recovery methodologies and processes.
- Will monitor and optimize the performance of the production SQL server databases.
- Responsible for database security, integrity, reliability, high availability, and disaster recovery solutions.
- Identify and troubleshoot database issues and the ability to analyze, design, build, test, and implement solutions.
- Implement and troubleshoot triggers, views, stored procedures, and data integrity constraints.
- Monitor file system space, database allocation; verify efficient use of disk storage; optimize space allocation; prevent out-of-space situations; and proactively plan for increased capacity and scalability.
- Proactively identify and implement improvements, automation, monitoring, alerting, and more.
- Deploy, support, and maintain Dev/Test/Production infrastructure and services in virtual and physical environments.
- Monitor the health and performance of all infrastructure and resolve issues using strong troubleshooting skills.
- Support a small Datacenter and a physical machine test lab by troubleshooting issues, deploying, and configuring new hardware, servers, laptops, and desktops (Windows and Linux).
- Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure issues on Windows and Linux systems for services such as Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, Group Policy Management, and MDT.
- Ensure High Availability, Fault Tolerance, Backup, and Disaster Recovery is in place and functioning properly for all critical infrastructure.
- Install, configure, and manage VMware virtualization environments (vSphere, SRM).
- Install, configure, and manage Cisco UCS environments (Central, UCS Manager, Fabric Interconnects, B and C-Series servers).
- Database Management, Databasing, Microsoft SQL Server.
Preferred Requirements:
- Must have a strong understanding of database schema object management, data modeling and architecture.
- In-depth technical knowledge on installation, configuration, and management of Virtual Cloud Foundation VCF solution.
- Complete understanding on hyperconvergence, Virtual Cloud Foundation VCF and its physical components.
- Multiple VMware clusters using the following technologies:
- vCenter
- ESXi
- vMotion
- vSAN
Salary Range: $115,000 - $135,000 annually.
