I-2520 - Tax Intern

The tax internship will expose the candidate to essential tax functions, including income tax, sales tax, property tax, forecasting, and compliance. The role will allow the candidate to work on real-world projects alongside members of the tax team and network with other interns and employees throughout the company. The candidate will be expected to complete an independent project and present it to senior management at the end of the summer. The candidate will report to the Tax Director and will regularly interact with the Chief Financial Officer.

Essential Job Responsibilities:


  • The candidate will be expected to complete an independent project and assist the tax team in its day-to-day operations. Typical activities include:
  • Executing compliance functions for sales, income, and property tax.
  • Facilitating interactions between the tax team and operations teams, related to tax information, and planning opportunities.
  • Creating and maintaining tax models and providing management with cash flow expectations.
  • Assists in generating tax planning opportunities.
  • Monitoring tax law changes and incorporating them into tax team compliance.
  • Additionally, the candidate is expected to:
  • Adhere to the company’s values – integrity, ownership, urgency, alignment and innovation.
  • Support company vision and mission.
  • Adhere to established work schedule, attendance standards and be punctual to work and meetings.

Qualifications:


  • Strong interest in the oil and gas industry and energy finance
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, and other departments.
  • Ability to complete multiple, diverse tasks of differing priorities without close supervision.
  • Ability to perform tasks and achieve results with a high degree of accuracy and precision.
  • Ability to accurately solve problems and exceptional proficiency in data management.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English language proficiency)
  • Excellent administrative and organizational skills.
  • Experienced in the use and application of the following software:
  • Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook).

Education Requirements:


  • Currently enrolled in an accredited four-year university or college.
  • 3.0 GPA
