The Position
CallRail is looking for a Software Engineering Manager. You’ll collaborate with a cross functional team of product owners, engineers, and our quality assurance team to grow the suite of CallRail products. As an engineering manager at CallRail, your primary responsibility is to manage a team of software engineers to ensure they are working efficiently and effectively to help achieve the company’s goals. You will be responsible for overseeing the development, testing, and release of features critical to stakeholders across the CallRail organization. This role does require previous leadership experience as a software manager or significant software team lead experience.
What You'll Do
- Project management: you will oversee the planning, execution and delivery of projects within the customer accounts and billing domain.
- Team management: you will guide a team of software engineers, providing mentorship to support their growth and succeed in their roles.
- Collaboration: You will work closely with your peer group of engineering managers to align on project dependencies.
- Communication: You will communicate upwards and outwards with stakeholders, including senior management from other departments at CallRail, to ensure they are informed of project progress and aligned with the team’s priorities.
- Partnership: Work with a dedicated product manager to prioritize new product features while advocating for incremental advancement of technical
- Continuous improvement: Continually evaluate the team’s processes and tools to drive maximum sustainable efficiency. Work closely with the team to balance the tradeoffs between short term delivery of projects and long term billing system maintainability.
What You'll Need
- Engineering management experience at a software as a service (SaaS) company.
- Proven experience helping engineers to achieve their goals, including management of Staff+ level engineers and growth of early career engineers to a Senior engineering level.
- Excellent communication skills, allowing you to work well within your team and across engineering.
- A willingness to deliver and receive direct feedback to continually improve.
- Experience managing stakeholder expectations. A bias to ship and iterate.
- Bonus points for:
- Experience as a web application software engineer, especially with Ruby on Rails.

This position is based out of our Atlanta office and will require that you come into the office on Tuesdays and Thursdays.
