Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Pediatric Nurse Practitioner to join our healthcare team. In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing and treating acute, episodic, or chronic illnesses in pediatric patients, either independently or as part of a healthcare team. The successful candidate will provide expert care to children, ensuring their well-being, and will engage with patients, families, and caregivers to support health and development.
Essential Job Functions:
- Analyze and interpret patients' histories, symptoms, physical findings, or diagnostic information to develop appropriate diagnoses
- Diagnose, treat, and educate pediatric patients and their parents/guardians about acute or chronic illnesses
- Prescribe medications and recommend diagnostic or therapeutic interventions with a focus on safety, efficacy, and cost-effectiveness
- Counsel patients and/or parents on drug regimens, potential side effects, and health maintenance
- Order, perform, or interpret diagnostic tests such as blood work, EKGs, and X-rays
- Maintain detailed patient records, ensuring all health care plans and prognoses are documented
- Develop treatment plans based on scientific rationale and professional practice guidelines
- Collaborate with specialists when necessary, and provide referrals when conditions exceed scope of practice
- Perform routine physical exams and manage ongoing care
- Oversee patient care and support staff as needed
- Stay up to date with state regulations for nurse practitioner practice
Educational Requirements:
- MSN (Master of Science in Nursing) degree
Experience Requirements:
- Minimum of 2-3 years of experience as a Nurse Practitioner
- At least 1 year of experience in pediatrics (preferred)
Licensure & Certification Requirements:
- Valid Nursing License (State of Michigan)
- Nurse Practitioner Certification (AANP)
- Pediatric Nurse Certification Board (PNCB) certification
Knowledge Requirements:
- Knowledge of pediatric healthcare practices, including diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation
- Familiarity with principles of patient care, including needs assessment, behavioral health, and preventive healthcare
- Experience with Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems
