We are looking for a
Documentation Specialist to join our team! The Documentation Specialist is responsible for managing articles in the Gateway Knowledge Base using analytical thinking and effective writing to explain complex processes with simple, step-by-step instructions. Maintenance of the Knowledge Base helps experienced users to configure and troubleshoot Gateway products quickly. The Documentation Specialist also develops trainings that prepare new users to become self-sufficient users of the Knowledge Base. 

Education and Experience:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in English or a related field.
  • 1 year experience writing technical documentation.
  • Experience in retail, point of sale, or revenue control systems or operations.

Core Competencies:


  • Ability to interview subject matter experts to clarify complex concepts and processes.
  • Ability to follow systematic processes for documentation and instructional design.
  • Proficiency in Confluence or similar documentation tools.
  • Basic proficiency in Gateway Ticketing Systems software and solutions, including all modules covered in the Galaxy System Administrator Certification Program.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including superb attention to detail and grammar.
  • Coordinates multiple tasks simultaneously, meeting deadlines and working efficiently under pressure, for both individual and team projects.
  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Exhibits professionalism and diplomacy when working with customers and internal teams.
  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the calendar year, which may include weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to work beyond regularly scheduled hours as requested by management.

Job Description:


  • Developing Knowledge Base articles on Gateway software and related subjects. This includes the following:
  • Documenting software enhancements.
  • Updating existing documentation with new formatting and information.
  • Editing submissions from internal teams.
  • Reviewing content with subject matter experts to ensure accuracy.
  • Helping users find information through effective linking, tagging, and page organization.
  • Developing or assisting with developing training on Gateway software and related subjects. This includes the following:
  • Developing learning objectives and ensuring the content matches those objectives.
  • Developing assessments to gauge the student's understanding of the learning objectives and developing the course material to meet those assessment goals.
  • Creating media to support learning.
  • Performing other duties as needed.
  • Stay current best practices for documentation and knowledge management. Participate in related professional organizations.
  • Handle all situations in accordance with Gateway’s mission, vision, and core values.
  • Read, understand, and comply with the Employee Handbook.
  • Perform other tasks as required by management.

Physical Demands: 


  • Ability to hear, see and speak adequately (with or without accommodations) to perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Ability to perform repetitive movement actions including walking, standing and sitting for long periods of time to adequately perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Ability to work in inside environmental conditions.
