About the Role:
WorkWhile is looking for a Lead Accountant/Accounting Manager reporting into the Head of Finance. This hire will play a key role in ensuring the integrity of our financial records and in developing scalable and sustainable processes as the business grows. You will own a key role in cash movements, customer contracts, vendor payments, account reconciliations, fluctuation analysis, and more. You will have a 360 degree view of our business and work cross functionally within a detail-oriented environment where creative problem solving is highly valued.
The individual is expected to manage multiple priorities concurrently without compromising quality, accuracy or completeness.
Responsibilities
Ownership of the accounting processes and activities, including full cycle close, AR, and AP Processes
Supervises and provide guidance to accounting contractors to ensure finance priorities delivered
Ensure timely close through supervision, preparation, and review of journal entries, reconciliations and variance analytics, and coordination with the broader team.
Owns the 1099 process for workers on our platform
Build finance infrastructure in preparation for future finance systems & external audit
Identify and deliver process improvements via cross functional collaboration
Create sustainable, repeatable and scalable processes, including the review and update of process documentation
Act as the subject matter expert on the above areas and work with technical accounting team to research, resolve and communicate technical issues
Serve as a key contact between accounting, finance, and the broader business organization to help with key projects, initiatives, transactions, and planning recommendations
Requirements
College graduate with a 4-year degree in Accounting or related field
Strong grasp of GAAP and accounting principles
Proficiency in excel, google sheets, and key accounting systems & process
3-7 years of public accounting and/or private industry experience
Have an owner’s mentality in a fast paced environment
Experience implementing accounting and business systems (Quickbooks, Bill.com, Stripe, Hubspot)
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage deadlines effectively
Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills
Effective verbal, listening, and written communication skills
