Join our team as a Senior Database Administrator to ensure seamless, secure, and efficient database operations supporting a Federal Law Enforcement Agency Laboratory Division. This role offers the chance to drive system performance, optimize data integrity, and play a key role in safeguarding national security through effective database management. This role is on site in Quantico, VA.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage, maintain, and secure enterprise databases across multiple networks and platforms.
- Design and implement robust database infrastructure for high availability, performance, and reliability.
- Perform database monitoring, optimization, backups, and recovery operations to ensure data integrity and uptime.
- Collaborate with System Engineers and Technical SMEs to implement database solutions that align with organizational objectives.
- Analyze database performance issues and provide effective solutions for optimization and troubleshooting.
- Support the migration and consolidation of databases to cloud environments (e.g., AWS GovCloud or Secret Cloud).
- Maintain compliance with the Federal Law Enforcement Agency security protocols and ensure databases meet NIST and Federal Law Enforcement Agency IT standards.
- Develop and maintain documentation for database processes, architecture, and security.
- Lead efforts to ensure data redundancy, failover configurations, and disaster recovery readiness.
- Work directly with stakeholders to address database issues and provide ongoing technical support and training.
Required Skills / Experience:
- Active Top Secret Clearance with SCI eligibility.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field (or 5+ years of database administration experience as a substitute).
- 5+ years experience as a Database Administrator managing large, complex databases with 500+ users.
- Proficiency with database platforms, such as Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and PostgreSQL.
- Experience implementing database performance tuning, optimization, and security protocols.
- Expertise in performing database backups, recovery, and disaster recovery operations.
- Familiarity with database migration to cloud platforms, including AWS and hybrid environments.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Desired Skills/Experience:
- Experience supporting databases in classified environments.
- Familiarity with ETL processes, data warehousing, and data integration solutions.
- Understanding of cloud-native database services, such as AWS RDS or Azure SQL.
- Proficiency in scripting languages like PowerShell or Python for database automation.
- Experience with database security tools, auditing, and compliance with Federal Law Enforcement Agency security standards
