Mobile Building Engineer

The Mobile Maintenance Technician assists with the maintenance, repair, troubleshooting and operation of multiple building related systems. Perform routine inspections and preventative maintenance tasks for a portfolio of buildings. This position is a roving position and works closely with the Property Manager, Chief Engineer or Director of Engineering.

Responsibilities:


  • Perform scheduled maintenance and repairs, including equipment, troubleshooting and preventative maintenance.
  • Perform schedule property inspections to include lighting audits, roof inspections, parking lot inspections, read sub meters, landscape and irrigation inspections.
  • Perform unscheduled maintenance calls, including routine minor equipment malfunctions and temperature or comfort related maintenance request.
  • Maintain inspection records on building related equipment and report abnormalities to manager.
  • Assist in routine monitoring of service contractors for outsourced major repairs
  • Respond to emergency calls after hours on a rotating basis.
  • Promote and maintain a safe work environment.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Desired Competency, Experience and Skills:


  • Minimum 3 - 5 years’ experience in commercial general maintenance functions such as minor plumbing, HVAC and electrical.
  • Troubleshooting and repair experience in lighting and electrical controls, plus general building maintenance experience.
  • Familiarity with building fire alarm and sprinkler systems required.
  • CFC Certification
  • High school education or equivalent
  • Technical School Training or other related Air Conditioning and Heating technical training’
  • Knowledge of and experience in commercial building/property maintenance, HVAC principles, basic electrical, and basic plumbing.
  • Evidence of mechanical aptitude.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize work tasks and to be a self-starter.
  • Valid driver’s license and satisfactory driving record.
  • Working knowledge of hand and power tool operation and safety.

Essential Functions:


  • Ability to lift 50 to 100 pounds.
  • Ability to climb ladders.
  • Ability to pass a drug screen and a criminal background check
  • Ability to work under minimal supervision
