Position Summary:
Discovery is looking for a talented and passionate Proposal Writer II to drive client success by collaborating with Discovery stakeholders and experts to leverage our expertise and present the optimal biospecimen and/or service solutions that meet or exceed client needs. Success in this position is achieved through thorough pre-process review and preparation, efficient collaboration with contributors, development with the client’s needs in mind, and finalization with a focus on detail and accuracy.
A Day in the Life of a Proposal Writer at Discovery Life Sciences:
- Collaborate with stakeholders and business development to understand client requests
- Develop client-facing request for proposal (RFP), request for information (RFI), and/or responses to support business opportunities
- Identify and implement tools or strategies to streamline proposal development and enhance efficiency
- Continuously learn about Discovery’s evolving services and products to craft innovative, client-centered solutions
Position Qualifications (Education, Skills, Experience):
- Bachelor’s Degree in life sciences or business-related field preferred.
- 3+ years’ of professional experience, with preference towards proposal writing, budgeting, contracting, and/or scientific bench work and process development.
- Experience managing multiple projects with variable deadlines, including planning, organization, and follow-up.
- Ability to complete quality work under pressure, such as short client timelines, and to manage time effectively.
- High competency in business-related software, including word processing and spreadsheets.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with an understanding of best practices in collaboration.
Key Responsibilities:
- Independently drive the proposal creation and development process for standard and more advanced client requests such as RFPs, RFIs, SOWs, and other ad hoc inquiries.
- Analyze client requests and identify key response components and gaps in client information, including requested scope and required deliverables.
- Utilize and customize existing language and draft novel language to create fit-for-purpose written proposal deliverables.
- Serve as primary developer for client-specific proposal responses, driving efficiency through familiarity
- Communicate with and manage input from contributors, identifying when additional contributors are needed and involving them accordingly.
- Utilize creativity to develop novel textual or graphic material when the opportunity requires
- Independently identify and add content into one or more content library/ies
- Think critically about proposal development tools and processes, participating in the identification and implementation of efficiencies and improvements.

- Remote – Eastern or Central time zone.
- Flexible work schedule, start time between 7am and 9am local time.
