A "Day in the Life" of the Temporary Contract Attorney
A typical day for the Temporary Contract Attorney involves reviewing sales contracts and vendor agreements to ensure they align with the company’s needs and protect its interests. You’ll collaborate with internal teams to understand key requirements, advise on necessary revisions, and negotiate terms, especially when dealing with one-sided customer contracts. Throughout the day, you’ll balance contract review with occasional consultations on other legal matters as they arise, all while maintaining a detailed and solution-oriented approach.
This is a part-time role and will be around 5-10 hours per week.
Overview of Responsibilities
- Review and analyze sales contracts to ensure they align with company policies and protect our interests, specifically addressing situations where customers are reluctant to sign.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand OpenWorks’ needs and negotiate contract terms effectively.
- Advise on necessary changes to customer contracts and work through redlines, making sure key provisions are in place and properly negotiated.
- Provide legal support in the negotiation process to ensure contracts are fair and balanced.
- Review vendor contracts (including technology and other vendor agreements) to ensure terms are favorable and consistent with company standards.
- Provide guidance on specific legal issues as they arise, offering pragmatic and solution-oriented advice.
What You'll Need to Succeed
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree and licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. state. Preferably licensed to practice law in AZ.
- 1-5 years of experience with contract review and negotiation, particularly in service-based contracts and vendor agreements.
- Detail-oriented, with the ability to spot key issues and inconsistencies in legal documents.
- Comfortable working independently, while being able to collaborate effectively with internal teams.
- Strong communication skills and ability to advise on complex matters in a clear, concise, and collaborative manner.
- Able to understand and navigate the interplay between legal recommendations and business priorities; flexible and able to adjust to changing needs and priorities.
