About Polygon Labs
Polygon Labs is a software development company building and developing a network of aggregated blockchains via the AggLayer, secured by Ethereum. As public infrastructure, the AggLayer will bring together user bases and liquidity for any connected chain, and leverage Ethereum as a settlement layer. Polygon Labs has also contributed to the core development of several widely-adopted scaling protocols and tools for launching blockchains, including Polygon PoS, Polygon zkEVM, and Polygon Miden, which is in development as well as Polygon CDK.
Your Role
The AggLayer is the #1 priority and at the core of the Polygon strategy. As Senior Protocol Engineer you will help to design, write specifications and implement the upcoming versions of the AggLayer, focusing on creating elegant integrations between multiple blockchains.This will happen in the form of Go and Rust code, which will be used to integrate smart contracts, Zero Knowledge systems, and blockchains. You'll work with a highly motivated team of innovators who thrive on solving complex challenges and pushing the boundaries of what's possible.This role is ideal for someone with a curious and innovative mindset, driven by a passion for learning, experimenting, and building transformative solutions.
Your work will push the boundaries of blockchain interoperability, reimagining what is possible in this rapidly evolving space.
Your Responsibilities
- Study and Analyze Blockchains: Deep dive into the architecture, consensus mechanisms, and state management of various blockchains to understand their integration requirements.
- Collaborate on Proving Logic Design: Work with the team to design and implement efficient mechanisms for verifying blockchain state and consensus, enabling reliable proofs for the AggLayer.
- Innovate in Cross-Chain Communication: Identify opportunities for innovation and drive solutions that enhance cross-chain functionality.
- Maintain and improve the core components of AggLayer.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to the team members.
What You’ll Need
Bachelor's degree (or equivalent) or higher in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or similar preferred
- Deep familiarity and a proven track record with Ethereum, rollup protocols, their trade-offs, and potential attack vectors.
- Understanding of how rollup and bridge protocols work
- Experience in working independently on open-ended problems
- A strong sense of responsibility and comfort with autonomous work.
- Feel comfortable writing and iterating on technical specification documents
Preferred Qualifications
Hands-on experience in Golang and Rust
- Experience in zkVM is a plus
- Experience writing smart contracts. Familiarity with the fundamentals of cryptography, such as hash functions and finite fields.
- Understanding of how ZK works, and how it can be used (no need to understand the maths behind it and so on)
- Interest in zero-knowledge proof-based blockchain systems.
- A passion for open-source software and an eagerness to learn.
