$60-63k + up to $4k annual bonus for exceeding site revenue and satisfaction goals, and 40% commission on all administered personal training sessions

Our General Manager on-siteYour Mission:Your mission is to provide an exceptional member experience at the Boxcar Fitness Center, located in the iconic Old Post Office building. You’ll support the day-to-day operations of the fitness center with a hospitality mindset, ensuring a seamless experience that members rave about. You will support the Fitness Manager and General Manager on-site in addressing inquiries from members, generating and conducting personal training sessions, leading group fitness classes, and ensuring the facility remains welcoming to tenants. The Legacy You’ll Leave:As a result of your time in this role, you brought daily joy to hundreds of members through your group fitness classes, private events, excellent customer service, and personal training.

You built strong and meaningful relationships with the building’s management team and tenants. Your efforts supported Boxcar in becoming the ultimate hub for tenant engagement and wellness, making it a key factor in lease renewals and solidifying the Old Post Office as the most coveted place to work in Chicago.

What You’re Responsible For:


  • Maintain a Pristine Facility: Keep the fitness center and locker rooms clean, organized, and fully operational to ensure a seamless member experience, performing checks throughout the fitness floor and locker rooms regularly during each shift. Regularly restock locker room supplies and maintain the cleanliness of the spaces to uphold high standards of hygiene.
  • Provide Outstanding Customer Service: Greet all members enthusiastically, ensuring they feel welcomed as they enter the facility. Create a fun and engaging atmosphere that encourages tenant participation and enhances their overall experience. Guide members through the enrollment process using the Lulafit app. Ensure infused water, diffuser and eucalyptus towels are always full, and up to lulafit’s standards.
  • Support Membership Revenue Goals: Lead prospective member tours, highlighting everything that makes the space special and unique. Assist in quarterly building events with your team to meet new prospective members and follow up with them. Work with your team to reach 1,850 members by the end of 2025.
  • Fitness Center Services: Maintain a book of business of 1:1 clients and small group sessions of 20-25 sessions per week. Establish a consistent schedule with training clients to increase the chances of accountability and repeat business. Convert complimentary training sessions to personal training package purchases and promote personal training, locker + laundry, and private class offerings by regularly engaging with members. Lead at least 4 group fitness classes weekly.
  • Member Satisfaction and Engagement: Prioritize tenant satisfaction by actively engaging with tenants to understand their needs and preferences. Implement innovative strategies and programs to enhance their experience, fostering a vibrant and connected community that drives long-term loyalty and satisfaction.
  • Building Team Collaboration: Work collaboratively with the building maintenance and operations teams to ensure the facility is well-maintained.

Who You Are - Baseline Requirements:


  • You have 1+ years experience in a fitness center environment. You may have worked as an instructor of a boutique studio or a personal trainer at a commercial gym.
  • Even better if your experience has touched the corporate fitness or wellness sector.
  • You must have a valid Personal Training certification from a nationally recognized organization.
  • You must be comfortable teaching multiple formats of group fitness classes to groups of all sizes.
  • You are proficient with both the Google suite (what lulafit uses) and Microsoft Office (what our clients use).  Don’t worry, you don’t need to be great at PowerPoint nor super savvy with Excel.

  • A reliable team player. Your past managers would refer to you as dependable and collaborative. You thrive working as part of a small team (in this case, you’ll have three other colleagues on-site) and understand how your daily tasks contribute to the success of the entire operation. You come to work each day ready to “pick up an oar” and do what’s needed for your team to be successful.
