The Role


The Chief of Staff to the Chief People Officer (CPO) is a pivotal leadership role designed to enhance the strategic and operational effectiveness of the People Team. You will act as a trusted partner to the CPO, driving cross-functional initiatives, fostering alignment across the People function, and supporting the company’s transformation. This role requires exceptional strategic thinking, problem-solving, and project management skills, coupled with a passion for building scalable organizational practices in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities


Strategic Leadership:


  • Partner with the CPO to set the vision, strategy, and roadmap for the People Team, ensuring alignment with company goals.

  • Guide the annual budget process for the People function.

  • Provide relevant business updates to the People Team and own a recurring cadence and agenda for team-wide meetings.

  • Lead efforts to build scalable HR systems and processes that support organizational growth and IPO readiness.

  • Act as a thought partner and trusted advisor to the CPO, providing insights and recommendations on key business and People strategies.

Operational Excellence:


  • Build and manage systems, tools, and programs that drive the People Team’s success, ensuring objectives are met on time and within budget.

  • Serve as a utility player, unblocking dependencies, resolving issues, and implementing HR best practices to support growth.

  • Lead the coordination of board-level materials, quarterly business reviews (QBRs), and company-wide updates for the People function.

Project Management:


  • Drive execution of cross-functional initiatives within the People Team and across the company.

  • Track priorities for the CPO and HR functional leaders, leveraging project management tools and internal dashboards.

  • Oversee critical projects, ensuring stakeholder buy-in, accountability, and impactful results.

  • Manage the integration of People-related systems and processes following acquisitions.

Data & Analytics:


  • Leverage data to validate decisions and provide actionable insights into engagement, retention, and performance.

  • Develop dashboards and reports that empower the People Team and senior leadership to make informed decisions.

Communication & Stakeholder Management:


  • Synthesize and share updates from the People Team with relevant stakeholders, including senior leadership and the Board.

  • Represent the CPO in meetings and discussions as needed, ensuring priorities are advanced effectively.

  • Develop compelling presentations and narratives to communicate People strategies and outcomes.

Qualifications 


  • Experience: 10-15+ years in People/HR roles, ideally in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment with exposure to IPO preparation or similar large-scale transformations.

  • HR Expertise: Proven experience in multiple HR domains (e.g., Talent Acquisition, People Operations, Total Rewards, Learning & Development).

  • Strategic Acumen: Demonstrated ability to think strategically while executing tactically in high-growth environments.

  • Project Management: Exceptional project management skills with experience in managing complex, cross-functional initiatives.

  • Communication Skills: Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and present to diverse audiences.

  • Data-Driven: Strong analytical skills and experience with HR metrics, reporting, and using data to drive decisions.

  • Adaptability: Proven talent as a "chaos pilot" who thrives in dynamic, ambiguous environments requiring quick decisions with imperfect information.

Preferred:


  • Experience in transportation, mobility, real estate, or logistics industries is a plus.

  • Advanced education in business, HR, or related fields is highly desirable.

When you join Metropolis, you’ll join a team of world-class product leaders and engineers, building an ecosystem of technologies at the intersection of parking, mobility, and real estate. Our goal is to build an inclusive culture where everyone has a voice and the best idea wins. You will play a key role in building and maintaining this culture as our organization grows. The anticipated base salary for this position is $170,000.00 to $210,000.00 annually. The actual base salary offered is determined by a number of variables, including, as appropriate, the applicant's qualifications for the position, years of relevant experience, distinctive skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location of residence and/or place of employment.
