Kalibri Labs is growing, so if you’re ready to make a difference and utilize your talents across a groundbreaking organization, please keep reading!We are seeking a Product Backend Engineer to design, build, and scale our SaaS-based business intelligence platform, Hummingbird PXM. The engineer will work in a cross functional agile team to ensure the best execution plan to achieve business objectives.

Responsibilities


  • Collaborates with the team to develop and deliver key backend functionalities and scalable backend and data processing solutions aligned with the product roadmap.
  • Works closely with product managers, engineering leads, and QA to ensure backend services and data workflows meet performance, reliability, and scalability requirements.
  • Follows established best practices in backend development and data engineering, including adhering to coding standards, participating in peer reviews, and implementing scalable design patterns.
  • Provides regular updates within a cross-functional team, identifies technical challenges or potential blockers, and works collaboratively to resolve them.
  • Contributes technical expertise to support teammates and enhances the team’s collective knowledge base.
  • Optimizes and maintains data pipelines for backend development workflows, including integrating system observability, logging, and monitoring
  • Proactively identifies bottlenecks in data processing or backend systems, proposing and implementing actionable improvements.
  • Debugs and troubleshoots errors in backend systems, APIs, and data pipelines across development and production environments.

Requirements


  • 4+ years of hands-on development experience within an Agile team, contributing to backend systems and data engineering and for SaaS products.

  • Strong Proficiency in backend development using Java, and Spring Boot
  • Proficiency in SQL, and strong understanding of data modeling and optimization techniques.
  • Experience in building and maintaining data pipelines and integrating warehouse data into access patterns suitable for SaaS applications.
  • Expertise in working with databases, both relational (e.g., Snowflake, PostgreSQL) and NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB, DynamoDB, or similar)
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and containerization technologies like Docker.

  • Proficiency in Agile development practices, including Scrum, version control systems (e.g., Git), peer code reviews, and adhering to DRY principles.
  • Demonstrated enthusiasm for staying current with modern technologies, frameworks, and best practices in backend development and data engineering.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and optimize system performance, including database tuning and pipeline efficiency.

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with cross-functional teams.
  • A collaborative mindset, with the ability to work effectively as part of a cross-functional team.
  • Familiarity with building automated quality tests and monitors and experience with data orchestrators such as airflow or prefect a plus.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Software Engineering, or equivalent experience in the tech industry.
