Overview
The Delivery Manager position is a strategic role focused on supporting a company's long term positioning in the marketplace. As a Delivery Manager, you will work to ensure the team’s success in delivery, primarily by helping to identify and remove impediments impacting the team’s ability to deliver. A Delivery Manager supports multiple cross-functional product teams (squads), and serves as the Scrum Master for each of those product teams.
Responsibilities
- Constantly looking to identify impediments early, actively working to resolve those impediments, and escalates when needed.
- Management and tracking of cross team/squad dependencies and all high-integrity commitments.
- Provides proactive visibility and effectively communicates delivery targets, commitments, and progress.
- Works to minimize meetings and ceremonies, but when they are needed, they are well-run and efficient.
- Encourages a culture of team-driven decision making and commitment. Encourages team trust and facilitates team building events.
- Where appropriate, coaches the teams to improve collaboration and outcomes (coaching is the primary responsibility of teams’ managers)
- Act as a key link between the project team and the customer. Understands the requirements of the customer and ensures that the team builds the solution that satisfies the customer
- Translate and refine end user needs, stakeholder input, and contractual deliverables to define product requirements
- Ensure all requirements are decomposed into clear, concise, and actionable user stories, complete with acceptance criteria
- Engage teams on priority of product schedules, objectives, and backlog according to customer expectations
- Actively collaborate with the Product Owners & Project Managers to implement positive feedback and advice into the product roadmap.
Requirements
- Good general understanding of how large scale software systems are designed, built, tested, deployed and into the hands of customers.
- Experience working with Developer Experience platforms or DevSecOps platforms and technologies like Containerization, Kubernetes, and Cloud based platforms.
- Strong understanding of delivery and go-to-market methods and metrics.
- Good general understanding of the role of product managers, product designers, engineers, quality assurance, devops and product marketers
- At least 2 years of experience working in the engineering organization of a product company using common Agile methods (Scrum, Kanban, XP)
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM) certification
- Must have an active Secret clearance
Familiar with the following Tech Stack
- Kubernetes, Docker, Cri-O, Containerd, or other container technologies
- Major programming or scripting languages
- Istio, Linkerd, Consul, or other service mesh
- Ansible, Terraform, Helm, Kustomize or other Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and Configuration as Code (CaC)
- AWS, Azure, GCP, or other cloud technologies
Specific Job Needs
- Located in one of the following locations: Austin, Grand Rapids, San Antonio, San Diego, Raleigh, Washington DC
- Willing to obtain/maintain a U.S Security Clearance, requiring U.S. Citizenship
- Willing to travel up to 30%
- Expected base salary of $160,000 - $180,000
