Ruby Developer


We are seeking an experienced
Ruby Developer with government agency experienceto be a part of our growing delivery team. As a Ruby Developer, you will create systems, software and cloud environments and manage and maintain crucial systems. With this, you will contribute to the design, development, integration and testing of the program as a vital member of the software development team. You will play a significant part in the development of the cloud-based systems. This role resides in our Delivery department and reports to our Project manager.

This position is hybrid on site at Metro Park, VA 50% of the time and remote.The average day for this position would look something like this. Participating in a brief morning stand-up meeting to discuss ongoing developments, blockers, and priorities. After the meeting you might dive right into writing and testing code for new features requested, work on improving the existing system’s performance, or assisting another developer with a pesky bug. You’ll spend part of your day collaborating with other developers to brainstorm solutions, review code, and ensure work aligns with the requirements.

The day wraps up with documenting your progress and perhaps researching new innovative approaches for upcoming challenges.SIXGEN supports cyber and intelligence missions by serving government and commercial organizations as they overcome global cybersecurity challenges. Our highly skilled operators conduct research and assessments based on real-world threats. We simulate adversaries and malicious actors to report details and actionable findings on critical assets and infrastructures. Our program planners advise mission owners to bring rapid solutions to intelligence mission leaders. Using innovative processes, tools, and techniques, we predict and overcome cybersecurity vulnerabilities. Our successes are supported by our diverse team of experienced, technical talent.   • Produce clean and efficient code based on requirements
  • Create design components, develop code and test changes utilizing test driven development
  • Design and develop new systems/features as well as enhancements and fixing defects to legacy software
  • Support and maintain web based applications critical to the day-to-day functions of business units
  • Participate in the development and implementation phases of projects to integrate appropriate applications
  • Stay up-to-date on new and current technologies
  • Utilize databases like Postgres and SQL for data storage, retrieval, and manipulation
  • Optimize queries for performance
  • Writing tests, performing quality assurance, and reviewing code scans
  • Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade existing software
  • Verify and deploy code into AWS cloud environments
  • Create technical documentation for references and reporting

Required Skills and Experience:

  • 2-15 years of experience as a Ruby developer
  • BS/BA in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field
  • Experience in software development using languages such as Ruby, JavaScript, MySQL, and Elasticsearch
  • Expert in enterprise software design, implementation and deployment
  • Sec+ Certification required
  • Familiarity with Linux and databases
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment and meet deadlines

Additional Details

  • Job Location: Metro Park, Virginia 50% of the time 
  • Clearance Requirement: TS/SCI
  • Travel: Up to 10%
  • Full Time or 1099 eligible

At SIXGEN, we are committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The anticipated salary range for this role is $125,000 - $145,000 per year, depending on experience and qualifications. This range reflects our compensation philosophy, which takes into account various factors including the candidate's relevant experience, education, skills, LCATs rates and position level, and market competitiveness. In addition to base salary, employees may be eligible for other forms of compensation to include our growth incentive program, incentives and benefits.

The final salary offer will be determined after a thorough review of the candidate's background and alignment with the role.
