Procon Consulting is seeking a Building Construction Inspector for the night shift on a project in conjunction with the federal government. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of experience with vertical construction building security upgrades such as card readers and door upgrades. The ideal candidate will review blueprints, monitor construction progress, examine interior/exterior work, utilizing survey instruments to verify completed work, taking photographs and maintaining a log. Procon Consulting operates as an owner's representative throughout the United States for government construction projects. We specialize in capital improvement projects in government construction & engineering. All candidates must meet the following skills and qualifications
Qualifications & Skills
- Five (5) years of experience inspecting all phases/aspects of a vertical construction project.
- Associate, Bachelor, or Master level architecture, engineering, construction (AEC) or CM qualifying ACCE/ABET/NAAB accredited degree.
- Government project experience a plus.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Provide off hours (night) inspection services on a variety of construction projects at a Federal Office Building located in downtown Washington, DC.
- Support daytime team consisting of Team Lead and two Construction Managers.
- Ability to organize and manage multiple projects effectively, to manage cost control systems, review and analyze plans, facilitate the bidding/negotiations/buyout process with a general contractor, review all forms (bidding, construction, or other) of requests for information (RFI’s), examine and negotiate change orders, and review and comment on submittals.
- Versed in jurisdictional and architectural design requirements, applicable codes, as well as all associated development/construction due diligence reporting.
- Skilled in budgeting and scheduling with strong verbal and writing skills.
- High degree of demonstrated organizational skills and problem‐solving ability.
- Respect for details and the ability to execute at a high level with significant independence.
- Ability to prioritize and execute tasks to achieve project goals.
- Business acumen, demonstrated by understanding of business implications of decisions; understanding of construction costs, knowledge of market and availability of competition.
- Knowledge of safety practices in the construction industry that indicates experience with OSHA safety requirements on construction projects.
