A DAY IN THE LIFE:


The Mechanical Engineer III plays a vital role in developing and supporting spacecraft subsystems through all stages of the production cycle. This position requires close collaboration with hardware and software teams and managing multiple projects simultaneously to deliver innovative solutions.

  • Perform Full Lifecycle Product Development: Design, develop, test prototypes, manufacture, and implement product solutions.
  • Support Engineering Systems Design: Evaluate and interpret requirements to develop effective solutions.
  • Plan and Create Mechanical Designs: Conceptualize and produce innovative mechanical designs for new products.
  • Conduct Experiments and Evaluations: Test and refine product designs to improve performance and innovation.
  • Develop and Review Technical Documentation: Utilize SolidWorks CAD tools to create technical drawings, specifications, and related documents.
  • Design Electronic Module Components: Focus on the design of electronic module mechanical parts and their integration.
  • Perform Thermal and Structural Analysis: Conduct hand calculations and use FEA computational tools for detailed analyses.
  • Provide Production Support: Address production challenges and ensure smooth processes.
  • Interface with Customers: Communicate technical solutions and collaborate on requirements effectively.
  • Estimate Project Budgets and Schedules: Plan and manage resources to meet project goals and timelines.
  • Participate in Program and Technical Reviews: Collaborate in critical reviews to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Collaborate Across Teams: Work with cross-functional teams, vendors, and contractors to optimize designs and processes.
  • Analyze and Resolve Design Non-Conformances: Perform root cause analysis and recommend solutions for complex challenges.
  • Support Development, Testing, and Production Activities: Oversee supplier integration and ensure alignment with program objectives.

YOU’RE AWESOME AT:


  • Mechanical Design and Analysis: Creating innovative, effective mechanical designs and performing thermal/structural analysis.
  • SolidWorks Proficiency: Expertly using SolidWorks CAD and SolidWorks Simulation for advanced design and analysis tasks.
  • Standards Knowledge: Applying MIL, NASA, and industry design/test specifications effectively.
  • Problem Solving: Tackling technical challenges with innovative solutions and sound reasoning skills.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partnering seamlessly with diverse teams and external vendors.
  • Technical Communication: Writing precise technical documentation and presenting solutions effectively.

WHAT YOU’LL NEED:


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field; Master’s Degree preferred.
  • 7 or more years of engineering experience, including SolidWorks CAD and simulation tools.
  • Knowledge of MIL, NASA, GEVS, and industry standards.
  • Advanced technical writing and communication skills.
  • Experience with satellite development and FEA software (NASTRAN/ANSYS) is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Office tools (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS:


The starting base pay range for this position is $110,000-$130,000 annually. Base pay will vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition to base pay, Innoflight offers a competitive compensation package that includes Profit-Sharing Bonus, Cash Performance Bonus, and a robust benefits package.Innoflight offers health care benefits such as medical, dental, vision, health savings accounts and life insurance. Ancillary benefits such as critical illness, accident, short term & long-term disability, pet insurance, ID & Legal Shield, Cal-Perks and EAP.   You’ll also receive 10 paid holidays per year, 120 hours of paid time off (starting in year 1) and auto enrolled into our 401K with a 3% automatic company match.
